The Venice Film Festival kicked off last week and it seems that everyone has been speaking about Kate Winslet’s “optical illusion dress”.
Kate wore a figure-hugging Stella McCartney shift dress for the premiere of her mini-series Mildred Pierce. The nude and cream dress had black panels at either side, which created the illusion of an especially tiny waist. The cutaway neckline showed off her shoulders and the white panel around the bust made the most of her natural curves.

Dislike Kate’s dress. Its trying too hard on the body-shaping front without any real style or beauty to offer – its like an undergarment. She looks great in most of her other choices.

I don’t mind the black panels (and back) on Kate’s Stella dress, but not really getting the ultra white chest panel – it looks a bit like her boobs are stuck on separately. It reminds me of a leggo piece or one of the tacky BBQ aprons!
I do love Salma Hayek’s silver grey frock though – really flattering and a good mix of fun with elegance. Not sure about Madonna at all these days….

I actually don’t like Kate’s dress at all. I think it makes her boobs look bizarre. And for me, the panels don’t create the illusion of a tiny waist. They create the illusion of someone trying to look like they have a tiny waist. I love Kate but I really hate this dress.
I love Gwyneth’s orange mini though, as well as Selma Blair’s dress. It’s good to see some lesser-seen colours on the red carpet.
I have a feeling I might be the only one but I also love Madonna’s gown with the birds/butterflies on it. I don’t know if I like it for her but I do like it in general.

I don’t know.. I think guys love lots of different bodies (and are no where near as harsh on women as other women are!) Everyone has something attractive about them.. I think Kate’s is her gorgeous hourglass, but there is something so stunning about Keira’s slender figure also.
