Some things just go together…

Bread and humus, guacamole and sour cream, Ross and Rachel (it was the real thing okay? How did they ever break up?)

And it’s the same with fashion, there are a few combinations that you can throw on in ten seconds and know will always, always, always look good. Combinations that, once sourced and invested in, will make getting dressed  in the morning an absolute no-brainer.

For this weekend’s find, I’m serving up four fashion combinations from Mamamia Shopping that are impossible to get wrong:

1. Jeans and stilettos: Think dollars per wear and don’t just save your heels for night time – try with a pair of jeans or skinny pants during the day.

Have to say I’m really into the statement necklace trend at the moment. Helps draw attention away from my enormous arse :)

And I do like the 17 Sundays label we’re selling on MM Shopping.

I would seriously look pregnant if I wore that blouse.

I would seriously look like a muffin top if I wore those jeans.

I would seriously break my leg if I wore those shoes.

I personally love my white t shirt, green slim fit jeans and leopard print flats as an easy to get around in, not slobby looking, outfit.

I’m big on flats, too. I think you can get away with skinny or boot cut jeans if you wear a peasant top. Or do you reckon they’re too billowy???

Oh shit no Bec, can definitely NEVER wear peasant tops! My God i would look 8 months pregnant instead of 5. I go for skimming type tops that have a bit if shape, or maybe tuck in a bit. Cant do A-line or oversize either :)

Jaysus, those aren’t stiletto heels – they’re a cartoon images of shoes, surely?

    Stillettos are ‘easy to wear’?

Maybe in the fashion industry ‘alternate universe’ but not in my world.

What is the target age demographic of this site? I’m feeling like I’m not it.

Can we please have some fashion tips that are realistic for your 30+, work juggling mum who has lost her figure, can’t always get to the gym, can’t afford to spend heaps and doesn’t want to look like a tryhard?

Seriously, I wouldn’t be able to walk to kinder with those shoes, but don’t want to look like a slob. What are my options?

Hmmm…. not too long ago, stilettos with jeans were a fashion no-no. Who gave the royal nod to this now being OK? :)

These outfits are great – if you’re slim, which I’m not. How about some stuff for us curvy girls?

All look great… but mostly not suitable for those of us who are not slim.

And I don’t like my bumpy knees, so I’m not ever going to do the short skirt combo.

Not every suggestion is going to suit everyone … take from it what you can.

Cant agree with the pencil skirt and Blouse combo. I just can’t get this to work. It just never looks right on me. If I tuck the top in it always looks a bit dishevelled. If I wear a top out its either too long or just looks shapeless and daggy. Wrap tops can work if you can get them short enough.

Try it with a wide belt. It should give you an hourglass shape if tucked in, a peplum effect if belted over untucked. And stilettos. Always stilettos!

Thanks Nicki, I will try that. Always looking for something different for work.

But with the stiletto/jeans tip, I think you’re forgetting that we actually need to get places and DO things during the day!

My tip from the biggest dag to ever walk the face of the earth…..change stilettos for coloured sandshoes.
