Seven style updates, just in time for spring.

I’m getting impatient. It’s not quite cold enough to wear heavy winter clothes, and it’s not quite warm enough to wear dresses and sandals. Although I keep seeing stunning Australian fashion on the David Jones and Myer runways, it has yet to drop into stores.

But when the hot weather hits, and that warm day coincides with payday, you’ll be ready. Here are seven easy ways to update your wardrobe for spring.

1. Fresh florals

Florals? For spring? Ground breaking.

Just as an FYI, you should know that this post is sponsored by holster fashion. But all opinions expressed by the author are 100% authentic and written in their own words.

As Miranda Priestly so effortlessly pointed out in the Devil Wears Prada, designers do florals for spring every single year without fail. But I’m not complaining, I love them. This season punchy bright neon grounds are popular, as are pretty pinks, and black and whites.

2. Culottes

Okay, I get that not everyone is going to be on board with the idea of long shorts, but I’m just so excited about the possibility of not seeing exposed bum cheeks in denim cutoffs this summer.

3. Graphic prints.

Call it the Chloe influence, but the French fashion house has already inspired a thousand knockoffs of their black and white checks. Just like florals, graphic prints (mostly black and white) are often repeated by designers every year, but there’s one huge upside to this: your prints never look out of date. Winning.

4. Embellishment

Embellishment is going to be huge this season, the overseas runways (particularly Milan) were full of 3D floral embroidered tops and skirts but the trend is also going to hit footwear. And we couldn’t be happier about that, one of the best perks about the warmer weather is releasing your feet from the dark depths of winter boots and closed in flats into sparkly sandals. Expect to see lots of gem-embellished and diamond cut shaped jewels on sandals and slides in stores from September.

5. Wide leg pants

Wide palazzo pants have been around for a few seasons, and I think Lisa Wilkinson is one of the most fashionable women who can pull these babies off. 2013 saw printed ones in store, but this season it’s all about black and whites.

6. White

Mums will want to avoid this one, but white will be everywhere this season. In shirting, wide-leg pants, embroidered tops, shoes, textured and lace dresses.

7. Fringing

Personally, I can’t get into fringed garments and accessories. Call it a throwback to the time in my fashion past when I tragically copied everything Carrie Bradshaw wore. I can’t thank Mark Zuckerberg’s parents enough for not conceiving him ‘til the 90s, because I have burned all photographic evidence.
