SAG Awards 2014: All the frocks from the red carpet.

The Screen Actors Guild Awards, known as the SAG awards, are often considered to be a prelude to the Oscars – in that they provide an insight into who might be taking home a gong on the big night.

The stars take the opportunity to frock up for the night, and take it just as seriously as they do at the main event. But not so seriously if they happen to split their gown a la Jennifer Lawrence at last year’s event they can’t laugh it off  – after all they’re not saving lives here people.

The category we’re most interested in is the one our own Cate Blanchett is nominated for. She’s up against Hollywood heavyweights Judi Dench, Julia Roberts, Sandra Bullock and Meryl Streep in the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Lead Role. We’re crossing our fingers and toes.

The fight for the best movie is between 12 Years a Slave, American Hustle, August: Osage County, Dallas Buyers Club and Lee Daniels’ The Butler, who do you think will take it out this year?

Flick through the gallery to see the SAG awards 2014 red carpet arrivals – and keep checking back for more!

And if you’re interested in who actually won awards, check out the full list of winners below.

How do you think they compare to last year’s frocks?
