5 things you can do to help dull skin.

Naughty when it comes to removing make up at night?

If you’re like Alexa Chung when it comes to taking off your makeup at night: naughty, then you’re inviting dull skin to have a party on your face.

If you are religious about taking off your makeup and still experiencing dull skin, then you need to try these five tips.

1. Hydrate the skin.

While dry skin doesn’t benefit from water intake, dull and dehydrated skin can. Ensure you not only drink at least one litre of water (more if you remember) a day, you need to include nourishing, hydrating skincare products in your routine too.

Dove’s Triple Moisturing Body Wash is an excellent skin hydrator to use in the winter months, to keep your skin nourished.

2. Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate

When you’re younger (under 20) your skin cells turn over every 28 days. By the time you reach 30 that rate slows to every 40 days.

When dead skin cells pile up, they make the skin look dull and lackluster. Exfoliating will help to brighten the skin. Using a glycolic acid peel once a week will also make a difference.

change your diet to include Omega fatty acids

3. Change up your diet.

If you are doing all the right things when it comes to your skincare routine yet find your complexion isn’t as bright and radiant as you would like it to be, it could be due to your diet.

Omega fatty acids from foods like coconut, avocado, flax seeds and salmon are responsible for healthy skin and hair.

4. Get more sleep

Easier said than done, right? Kids, increasingly longer work hours and smartphone addictions are all responsible for keeping us away from our beauty sleep.

But a good night’s sleep will not only ensure we don’t drink our body weight in skim lattes, it is also beneficial for the skin. A couple of late nights in a row and you’ve probably seen the result in the form of dark under eye circles. But lack of sleep also messes with the rest of your skin too.

Poor sleep or not enough sleep doesn’t allow the skin to rejuvenate overnight, which can lead to premature ageing and dullness. That’s enough for us to skip the 3pm coffee run.

5. Use a cleanser with salicylic acid.

One of the enemies of healthy, glowing skin is clogged pores. They not only lead to dull skin, but blackheads, millia (whiteheads) and pimples. Using a cleanser with salicyclic acid will help to exfoliate the skin’s top layers, clear clogged pores and stop uneven skin tone due to pigmentation.

Some simple things to remember when it comes to skin care:

If you have dry skin, what do you do to make it brighter?

During winter your skin might start to feel dry, scaly and rough, and  the use of some body washes can strip the moisture from your skin rather the rejuvenate. Dove is different. With breakthrough Nutrium Moisture®, it’s proven to hydrate and nourish skin deep down* and maintain its beauty. Dove Triple Moisturising Body Wash is a rich creamy formulation, featuring a breakthrough blend of moisturisers enriched with skin natural lipids that can deeply absorb within the skin’s surface to nourish deep down* when you shower. Dove leaves your skin feeling soft and supple, giving a touch of pampering nourishment in the shower. That’s the Dove Difference!
