It’s Emmys night – which means seeing the best of America’s TV stars on the red carpet at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
Who wins what is all much of a muchness really. We’re in this for the dresses.
(And even if you’re not so into the dresses, it’s just as worthwhile clicking through for the suits. Trust me.)
Take a look at what the stars are wearing as they walk the red carpet – we’ll keep updating this great gallery through the day. Early favourites for us are Ginnifer Goodwin and Heidi Klum.

Claire Danes
After 64 years, this is the red carpet event that ages better than Clooney and the one night each year we ooh and ahh about what Hayden Panettiere is wearing and shamelessly comment on Heidi Klum‘s (extremely) high leg split.
This is the latest update from Celebuzz:
Host Jimmy Kimmel promises that it will be a night to remember for more than just the fashion. He’s planning to pull the biggest prank in Emmys history.
“I am gonna do something very weird during the show,” Kimmel told Entertainment Weekly. “I think it could possibly be the biggest prank ever pulled, as far as number of people involved.”
Don’t miss a beat on the red carpet – we will be updating our gallery throughout the day and tweeting live updates on who wore what. Follow @Mamamia for the latest.
Here’s a full list of the winners:
— Supporting Actor, Comedy Series: Eric Stonestreet, “Modern Family” (Cameron)
— Supporting Actress, Comedy Series: Julie Bowen, “Modern Family” (Claire)
— Directing, Comedy Series: Steven Levitan, “Modern Family”

Ginnifer Goodwin was absolutely STUNNING! I’ve always loved her – really think she should have been nominated for her acting in Big Love which is one of my all time favourite tv shows! Somewhat of a hidden gem, but I highly recommend the DVDs – it’s amazing!
Christine Baranski – sorry, but mutton dressed as lamb.

Christine Baranski – echoing a look I went for back sometime in the 80s… it’s time to move on, darling.

mmmmm… Christina Hendricks takes my breath away……… she would be enough for me to consider turning……

Such fun looking at these/

Not at all in love with some of the colours on the red carpet …. and Nicole’s dress?
Not as much ‘wow’ this year,

Who ARE all these people? Shows you how much American TV I watch, never heard of most of them.
I wonder how many will still be around in 5 years time. Think of all those from hit TV series in the past who were never heard of again. A very precarious existence methinks.

Heidi Klums boobs are far to close to top of her split. Makes her look hunched. It could be that the top is too ill fitted for a woman who has had 4kids. The girls need some support.

Kelly Osborne & Hayden Panetierre are rockin it!
Love both their looks, bit left of centre but both totes carrying them off

Sofia Vergara is just stunning, I could look at photos of that woman all day.

Isn’t she unbelievable?! Did you know that she is actually blonde, and dyes her hair brown? Can you imagine her with blonde hair?! Pornography central! I just love her character in ‘Modern Family’, hilarious!

Lena Dunham (whoever she is) looks like she can barely stomach her own dress.
And Glenn Close, what were you thinking?! Christina Hendricks is also a big NO from me.
Several others are just stunning – love the bright colours especially. Electric blue! Bright yellow! Awesome. Only those ladies could pull them off.

I think if Glenn Close ever looks ‘wow’ we will know she has been secretly abducted by aliens and replaced

Jessica Pare and January Jones are my stand-outs.

Zooey Deschanel, January Jones (wow), Julianne Hough are favourites… but all in all a let down after last year.

Absolutely love Kiernan’s short dress..I notice some high fashion designers are now doing short wedding gowns.
I know it’s for the cameras but most of the long dresses don’t look good in daylight.

FINALLY Nicole Kidman softens her look and wears soft colours – and how much better does she look! Yay Nicole!

Jessica Pare is stunning – the hair, dress, belt, makeup – all of it. Love.

I just hate it when I miss the Emmys because Ryan Gosling is playing footsies with me in bed

Its nice to see a return to some old school glamour with beautiful grooming. I am over the days of unstyled hair and half done looks. These people look fabulous!

Couldn’t agree with you more.

Am loving Kelly Osbourne and Ariel Winter.

I must be getting old, I don’t know who most of these people are. Still love looking at the dresses though. One curiosity – why is Heidi Klum there? What TV does she do?!

Ummmm, Project Runway….for like….seven or eight years!

Heid Klum hosts Project Runway

Yes, she does Project Runway but she also turns up to every single Golden Globes and Oscars, I have no idea why.

I am loving quite a few of the dresses, particulary Ginnifer Goodwin’s orange number and Zoey Deschanel’s princess blue. I am not loving Heidi Klum’s outfit however. Without split I think it woud be lovely, but with the split and the plunging neckline I can’t help but think it is too much.

Kiernan Shipka and Ariel Winter need to run classes on how to be a classy Hollywood tween. They could set up shop outside the Disney Channel studios, or something?

Wow, some puzzling choices here – like the colour of Emily van Camp’s dress – she’s usually so gorgeous and here she just looks beige from top to toe!
Much prefer Hayden P’s modified sari look, and Kelly Osborne and Jessica Pare.
