In today’s fashion news, we’re suggesting you to try or buy something that may actually already be in your wardrobe.
Cobalt blue.
Yep! It’s a colour that suits. Well. It suits just about everybody; from the yellow skinned, four fingered Marge Simpson to Sonic the Hedgehog – and it’s not everyday that a spiky animal looks fashionable.
There is something really refreshing about a fashion trend that actually looks good on most of the population. It feels like when you spend a weekend at the shops these days, you get bombarded with the most unflattering shades and cuts that designers could come up with.
But cobalt blue can be a shared BFF for us all.
Check out the gallery below for 20 ways to wear this trend at the office, out to dinner, running errands… and on the red carpet.

A blue pair of pants for the brave. A statement necklace. A blue blazer for 9 to 5. The list goes on.
My favourite? A pair of blue pants I’ve had sitting in my cupboard since forever. Now I have an excuse to wear them.
The only rule? Keep the shade a rich, bold blue. We’re feeling confident about this one.
What is the easiest fashion trend to try at the moment? Are you wearing cobalt blue this season?
We have another kind of style post where we regularly feature YOU, our Mamamia readers – and your friends. Remember to let us know where you (or they) got each garment. Sharing is caring. Email your photos to jasmine@mamamia.com.au.

November – I can’t wait. Nude accessories (thin belt and nude shoes) and then some sparkly earrings (slightly different for each of them, one with a pearl drop). We are also by the water so hoping to reflect the beach in a way.
Also think I am going to get jeans in cobalt too… every time I see them on someone I just love them!
Loving your fashion articles too Jasmine!!

Hmm im a bit reserved about this colour. It came in in a big way in 2006 but I think it can look really tacky if not done correctly. Many of the pictures in the gallery do a great job but it when it starts filtering down to the supre’s etc it starts to get a bit meh. (nothing wrong with supre btw!)

Hi Mamamia,
The pop-ups on some of your pages (especially this one) are really bad at the moment. I have to close the same ones several times (well, find the close button right down the bottom first) turn off pop-ups and they still appear.
Overkill, more annoying than eye-catching, and puts me off visiting.
Even if they are in cobalt blue

They shouldn’t all be coming up together! We’ll get right onto it. Thanks do much for letting us know…

The first I heard of Cobalt Blue was when I first started working. I worked in a major department store and I did a lot of unpacking boxes and packing shelves when regular stock ran out and Cobalt Blue was the most popular toilet mat and bath mat colour.
Having said that, Dutchess Kate makes that bath mat look amazing…

I bought a cobalt blue trench from Zara in Autumn and I love it. So much more interesting than black.

I bought a pair of cobalt blue linen-ish pants from Sass & Bide last summer and I love them!

This trend seems like a continuation of the navy blue trend right?
I made myself a formal dress in this colour. Not sure if I should save it for another occasion though, like uni balls of something. See, fwproblem is that too many people like wearing this colour precisely becasue it’s sooo flattering!!
I’m thinking olive green is also great right now! It’s my new favourite colour with soft neon orange!

My sister always wears this colour & has done for years! Practically all her clothes are cobalt blue! She is finally trendy! She might not be happy that everyone is wearing her colour now though!

No! I wore this colour to my school formal in 1985. Just can’t go there!

So did I, same year. Dropped waist, puffy sleeves with a bow on the hip by any chance?

I had that one too, circa 1987. You just described it to a ‘t’ except mind had a few sequins in the middle of the bow. Bewdiful.
