Think of it as dip-dyed. Otherwise known as ombre.

And if Gwyneth’s wearing it is must be cool. Check out Gwyneth Paltrow‘s latest hair style – her usually blonde strands are slightly darker than usual, bordering on orange.  It’s similar to Balayage, (check that out here). The difference here is the line between the two tones is more prominent.

Flick through the gallery for some more colourful celeb hair – there’s the outrageous from Kelly Osbourne and Katy Perry and the more subtle balayage from Drew Barrymore and Rose Byrne.

These photos are SO old. Sorry but you’re very behind this trend. Feather extensions… uh no, it was a flash in the pan and its well and truly gone. Every salon that stocked up on them I have seen recently has them heavily discounted. Its very last year!

Did anyone of the 80s-90s vintage used to have a Little Miss Magic Hair? You put hot or icy water in a hair iron thingy and her hair turned different colours. You could also use a stamp thingy, in case you wanted to put colourful stars or love hearts in her hair. Of course I loved mine to death.

Some of these looks totally remind me of that.

That’s just what we need, it’s a Hairdressers nightmare. I can see it now young and old, all thinking they look “on trend” using some cheep box job from price attack and expeimenting with colour. It go like this:-
I have bleached blonde hair and I put black through the ends and it looks all dry and faded and I have this root regrowth. I just want it all blonde, but not yellow blonde, white blonde like hers.
If you want this look use coloured Hair Extentions.

BIt of a non-story. It looks like that is just the underside of her hair which is a little darker naturally- just like every woman who has half or three quarter head foils. Putting coloured streaks in the hair isn’t fashion-forward and it is definitely not a new trend!

I don’t think Gwyneth’s hair is two colours.

I think the part of her hair that hits her shoulders is reflecting the light in a different way and therefore looks darker. If it was dyed two different colours, surely it would be at the front and all the way around, and not just in a weird chunk at her shoulders.

I thought ombre and balayage were the same thing?

This is article is quite bizarre….

I agree with the bizarre part… I don’t understand how gwyneth’s hair is more prominant bayalage than drew’s…..
