Mime Alford said she had an affair with JFK when she was 19.

1. ‘I was JFK’s teenage mistress’

A 69-year-old grandmother in the US has written a memoir in which she claims she had an 18-month long affair with John F Kennedy during his time as US president in the 1960s. Mimi Alford said she was a 19-year-old virgin when JFK seduced her. She said the affair only ended when the then president died.

2. Sarah Palin on raising a child with Down Syndrome

“When I discovered early in my pregnancy that my baby would be born with an extra chromosome, the diagnosis of Down Syndrome frightened me so much that I dared not discuss my pregnancy for many months,” Sarah Palin wrote in an essay about her 4-year-old son Trig, who has Down Syndrome.  On raising a child with special needs, she said it was a “unique challenge, and there’s still fear about my son Trig’s future because of health and social challenges,” but concluded the piece by saying: “He’s our “everything that really matters”.

3. Princess Diana. The movie.

Yes. You read correctly. It’s being reported that the life of the British Royal will be made into a Hollywood movie, based on memoirs from her bodyguard Ken Wharfe’s book ‘Diana: Closely Guarded Secret’. The biggest question is: Which actress will play her? Have a look at the gallery and tell us your pick.

4. The quotes of Karl Lagerfield.

It’s not just fashion he’s known for – it’s also his tendency to voice some rather harsh opinions. On the topic of pop singer Adele, Lagerfield said in an interview with Metro: “The thing at the moment is Adele. She is a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice.” While we’re on the topic, here’s some of his other quotes: “Nobody wants Greece to disappear, but they have really disgusting habits — Italy as well”, If I was a woman in Russia I would be a lesbian, as the men are very ugly” and “People in magazines are 50 per cent bimbo and 50 per cent pregnant women.”

Thanks Karl.

joan rivers jan 2011 380x352 Wine Bar: 7 things everyones talking about.

Joan Rivers has had more the 700 surgeries. Maybe.

5. Joan Rivers has had how many surgeries?

739. That’s how many plastic surgeries the 78-year-old American comedian and TV host admitted to having during an episode of her show “Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best?” But it turns out it was just a joke. During an interview with Anderson Cooper she joked again: “Every weekend I just go in and I do something new. I get a 10th one free. It’s a little like coffee you just keep going,” she said.

6. Reserve Bank meets today.

Keeps rates on hold at 4.25%. That’s the gist.

7. Kevin Rudd tells Julia Gillard “Now you’re just somebody that I used to know”

Sort of. It’s a parody of Gotye’s Somebody That I Used to Know, based on speculation that K-Rudd will challenge Julia Gillard for leadership of the Labor party. Have a look.

And another thing…

Grab another drink. Call a friend. Order some more hors d’oeuvres. We’ve still got plenty more to talk about at the Wine Bar. Here’s everything we’ve been chatting about on the site today:

Abortions. In this incredibly honest post, one women tells of her decision to terminate and asks the question: Why are women do scared to talk about abortions – even with their friends and partners?

Changing pace, our resident beauty guru Zoe Foster stepped in to give us all a lesson on beauty faux paus and how to avoid them. Lesson 1? Dark shades of foundation do not make you look tanned, just silly. Take notes on this one, we’ll be quizzing you next week.

Here’s one to make you think from our news editor, Rick Morton. A women named Jane Sheahan tragically died this week when she was swept away in QLD’s floods. And if that’s not enough, get this. As she desperately fought to hold on in fast flowing floodwaters, a group stood nearby and reached for their phones. WHY?

This story is guaranteed to brighten up your day. Or maybe you can use the comments as inspiration to brighten up someone else’s?

And if galleries are more your thing, check out the 52 must-see looks of the week (where Kelly Osborne finally explains what that grey hair was about…)

Now over to you, what’s on your mind?

What? A female telling the world the name of the most famous man she had sex with? Funny thing that. I often wonder why females feel the need to blab about their sexual exploits. Even Germaine Greer felt compelled to tell the world the name of the most famous man she had sex with. Same with Judith Lucy et al.

Please! enough with the media speculation for the Kevin vs Julia. It’s getting really BORING! Can we debate something that’s actually of use to this country!
Karl Largerfeld just shouldn’t open his mouth, how dare he make comments like that about Adele. I have more respect for her than I ever will for him, silly little man should keep his mouth shut.

I think Charlize Theron would make a good Diana. She’s good with accents and a very good actor – really quite underrated, even though she did win an Oscar. Technically she’s probably too beautiful for the role (I mean Diana was lovely but surely Charlize is the single most gorgeous woman in Hollywood) but she has downplayed her looks before and anyway it wouldn’t be too much of a problem when depicting Diana when she was at the height of her glamour in the final years of her life.

I would have picked Natasha Richardson to play Princess Di, but sadly she too is no longer with us…for the later stages of her life I would pick Emma Thompson, I always thought the three of them looked so similar. Not sure who I would pick for her earlier years but it has to be a Brit, has to be an authentic accent!!

The quiet carriages on NSW trains is a crazy idea. I havent caught a train for years so maybe I have no idea… But seriously, have we become so bad mannered and dysfuntional as a community that we need dedicated train carriages for people who have respect for others and another for people with no manners?

Yeah, I am a veteran train catcher from the Central Coast to Sydney and I have recently started using my car. People practically scream into their phones, teenagers have conversations so loud they might as well be on opposite sides of the carriage. Kids/babies cry and scream (can’t be helped but headache inducing). After a long day at work, I can see why people would appreciate some quiet and be able to expect it on their journey home.

Scary! Now I wonder who is going to police it? And if a quiet person suddenly becomes loud (gets a phone call or their baby wakes up) are they going to be booted out into the noisy carriage? It will be interesting to read about it as it happens!

They do it all over Europe – a conductor man walks through and tells you off if you are even speaking to the person next to you a little loud. No way you could use a phone or have a kid in there. Have to say its rather nice.

Maybe Diana in her early days, they have the same child-like quality. But later on in life I think Diana needs someone more sophisticated and willowy to play her – Gwyneth could pull it off, she has her great legs. Or Cate?

radha could be good and it would raise her profile – i think it has to be a relative unknown or an ‘untouchable’ oscar winner – any actresses in the middle risk career suicide…

I was thinking Carey Mulligan when looking at the younger shots of Diana, but I think she might be toooo young to pull off Diana’s later years. Also for the record I think Diana was one of those wonder women who just got more and more stunning as she got older.
