Cooking show porn. Fashion magazine porn. Jeans porn. Shoes porn. Chocolate porn. Lipgloss porn. Kardashian porn (watching the show, I mean, not the ACTUAL Kardashian porn video with Kim although…..)
There’s a theory (possibly not scientific) that everybody has their own version of porn. You know that thing, be it stationery or mags, tea sets or hats, that you just cannot walk past without getting a little turned on. A little addicted to.
For Mamamia’s Site Manager Lana it is paper napkins and colourful plastic plates (although this is new to her porn repertoire she is heavily addicted):
Site Coordinator Nicky’s porn is bright nail polish, magazines and stripes. Her stripe obsession isn’t restricted to clothing, it extends into cups, plates, bowls, beach towels… basically everything.
And mine are sparkly eye shadow, storage containers and large tea cups:

Mia's porn
What is your porn?
Thank you Sandra for the post idea!

Cake art! I love looking through wedding cake mags and those old Womens Weekly cookbooks with all the kids birthday cakes. So amazing what people can do with cakes these days.

Home magazines, cook books, homewears, kids clothes (and I don’t have kids, so my niece and nephew are the coolest dressed kids on the block – oh, and I have just found out I will be having another niece or nephew soon – did you hear that? It was the sound of cotton on kids and country road execs jumpung for joy and counting the $$ already!

I collect new tv series that come out on DVD. I get a little excited when it gets near the release date.

Definitely makeup – i have boxes and boxes and boxes of the stuff

Real estate …. for sure! I can look at houses for hours. Fortunately my job is in real estate marketing so I get paid to look at property all day every day. I work just around the corner from home so when I go home for lunch I will eat lunch whilst watching Grand Designs, Property Ladder, Selling Houses, Location Location Location etc etc.
oh… and Ikea… and looking at flights and holiday destinations…

Collections. I have too many collections- mainly due to my obsession with mid-century style and culture. Either something is very wrong with me or I’m lost from another time.
Vintage Mags and ads, music, movies and musicals on DVD, costume jewellery, glassware, cookbooks, even furniture. (Sadly, not so much the clothing though- only cause it’s too hard to find.) Needless to say, LOVE Mad Men.
And drooling over stately older style homes in the Real Estate mags.
If anyone knows of a cure, I’d be only too happy to hear it…

Real estate! I’m only 20 and am no where near buying a home but i just love looking at them on the net or in real estate windows, comparing prices, areas etc. and dreaming of course!
A new, never before read book. And bookshops. One day when i’m old and the yet to be born kiddies move out i plan to have a room just for my books
If they still even have books then.

yes, they have a great chemistry together, though Kirsty is doing well in her new series, I love the fact she wears wellies with everything and doesn’t think twice about diving headfirst into a skip.

Fashion blogs and online shopping sites, like Net-A-Porter. But most especially HANDBAG PORN. Oh, the hours I can waste. I have folders full of fashion and handbag pictures saved on my laptop… It’s almost appalling.
I also really, really love cute dinnerware – bowls, tea cups, plates! Japan was paradise for me in that respect.

My wife says it’s a mid-life crisis, I point out it’s cheaper than fancy cars and easy women.

Stationary! Yesterday my work collegue says to me “I just need to pop into Typo”…I had never been in there. $35 later I have a new mini notebook, pen and pencil case (one that fits in my handbag!). I used them this morning on the bus to jot some ideas down so I don’t think it was a waste…

I’m so with you on this one!
I also recently discovered typo and it has replaced smiggle and kikki k as my few favourite place to shop for stationary items

Coffee mug porn ! My wife and I can’t help ourselves !
Every time we go to the theatre we’ll grab a couple of the overpriced mugs that publicize the show. We collected a series of Royal Albert mugs. Mugs that advertise products and companies are in over supply.
Mugs from the supermarket; mugs from two dollar stores. Mugs purchased on holidays extolling the virtues of Hobart and Melbourne, manufactured in China.
I’m drowning in a sea of coffee mugs !

Real estate, most definitely. Searching and browsing luxury homes – usually in New York or areas that I have a fascination with! I spend hours online looking it up and looking through all the photos!
loading...
Oh, and English Home & Garden magazines! So good!
loading...
Oh my god yes, yes, yes, I cant get enough of this, and any lifestyle show that features English homes.

I completely agree with this!! I can browse through houses on the net for hours.

Fashion blogs, and online shopping websites like net-a-porter, shopbop, nastygal – ah I disgust myself sometimes with the amount of time I obsesively troll through these

Marie Claire magazine, vintage china milk jugs, old, colourful tins to keep things in…
…and spiral bound, fabric or leather coloured diaries, with a week view on each double page.
My hunt for the perfect diary is becoming more and more lengthy and obsessive each year…

It used to be tupperware. I have a cupboard, pantry, fridge and freezer filled with it. If it ain’t tupperware, I don’t want it. However, after hubby stumbled upon a catalogue and found out how much it cost I was swiftly signed up for Tupperware Addicts Anonomous. “My name is TF and I’m a Tupperware Addict. I slipped up over the weekend and browsed through their latest catalogue and I even took an order form and filled it in. But I didn’t send it to the consultant – I swear.”

Wool. I knit for the charity Knit One, Give One which gives away knitted garments for disadvantaged people over autumn, winter & early spring.
I love all colours, textures and types of wool. I have no desire to keep every scarf I knit, I just get enjoyment from watching what is essentially a long, fancy piece of string turn into something comforting, warming and artful.
I’m always surrounded by beautiful colours. And if I really like a piece of wool, I can knit one for me
loading...
Wow, that is just so beautiful.
loading...
Thanks
loading...
I really want to learn knitting and crocheting, so Im envious of your porn, it will be my new years resolution.
loading...
Knitting is easy. I learnt from my mum. Find someone who knows how to knit who can teach you to cast on. Once you can cast on you can knit pretty much anything (except complicated stuff like jumpers etc.)
loading...
Magazines! Real Living, Frankie, Inside Out, Shop Til You Drop – from the initial anticipation of what inspiration could be lurking inside – I am actually in mourning when I get to the back cover and realise all those beautiful pages will never be new to me again! Also fairy lights, potato chips, actually, potatoes any which way, pop country music (so not in fashion).
loading...
I love music magazines that offer free CD samplers. Last week I grabbed a recent edition of MOJO as it featured a CD of Beatles classics performed by artists currently popular in England. I think that I only recognised two names on the cover.
Haven’t had a chance to listen to it yet.

I love love love dolls house items! I don’t collect them but I find them mesmerising when I am in a store that sells all the little accessories! LOL!
You know all the little furniture, little plates and cups and curtains and even whitegoods! I’m getting excited!
Have to have a daughter so I can start buying it. hee hee
loading...
I don’t think I could share with my girls :0) I just love the intricacy. Stemming from this I love the book the Borrowers from Mary Horton (I think)where little people live in a dolls house or under the house and borrow everyday things and make them their furniture… I love the fantasy of it.
loading...
Stationery, magazines, food podcasts and cooking shows, clothes, Mimco hair accessories, Rush (the TV show).

Real estate – whether it’s in the local rag, online, really anywhere, I just love looking at homes. We are looking at buying a bigger home in the next few years but that doesn’t stop me looking at houses everyday!
Food magazines – absolutely obsessed with these mags. Don’t really buy that many cook books but I do have a huge collection of food mags. Really i don’t know why I bother as they basically rotate same themes/ideas every year.
loading...
Weddings! Wedding magazines, wedding photos on facebook (knowing the bride is a bonus, but not a requirement), wedding tips in online articles, wedding forums…
I’m getting married in March, and ive got a little bit of an obsession!!

Stationery! Can’t walk past brand new notebooks, colourful pens, little post-its… love it all!! And asian bakeries, although I didn’t know I was addicted until 5 seconds ago! If I walk past one I HAVE to go in, look around and walk out with a couple of goodies. Hmmmm… drool…

Storage and organisational ‘stuff’- So kikki.k and Howard’s Storage World are bad news.
Pretty writing paper and cards (but I have a pretty quick turn over-I send lots of cards/thank yous etc)
Tea cups and tea pots. But I don’t have too many. YET…

Movies. Especially slasher movies (slasher remakes is my current thesis topic). Every time I hear about some new film in the works, something that’s bombed, something that’s succeeded, I want to follow it. I look for precedents in academic literature. I obsessively read newspaper reviews.
For that reason, Comic Con is also a major thing for me. I have never been for cost reasons (flights are fricking expensive), but I follow the events and panels religiously every time it’s on. I want to hear EVERYTHING about what’s happening next in cinema, what’s being hyped as the next big thing and why.
loading...
I am a bibliophile from way back so my porn is books. Book shops. Online or in person. Love love LOVE them!
loading...
Mine is mostly food related – cookbooks, cooking shows, delicious & donna hay mags, kitchen shops, gourmet food shops etc.
Also real estate, how on earth do they make realestate.com SO addictive. I waste so much time looking at houses that are on the market, and we’re not even looking to move! I just love looking at how people have their houses decorated, weird hey.
