Chicks smashing grunters is exactly as bizarre as it sounds.

A new magazine launched in Australia last month.

It’s for women who like hunting pigs. And it’s called ‘Chicks Smashing Grunters’.

‘Chicks Smashing Grunters’ launched in August, and is Australia’s first women’s hunting magazine. So what does it feature? Lots of pictures of women with the pigs they’ve just killed of course. For example:

While your first reaction may be to cover your mouth in horror or to stifle an unintentional laugh, let’s learn a little more first, shall we?

Pig hunting is extremley popular in rural Australia, as it reduces the risks of feral pigs that spread diseases amongst stock and cause damage to land. However it is mainly seen as a male activity. Why? Because men equal killing machines who control dogs and can shoot.

Therefore all of the hunting publications are aimed at men – and can often be tastless and sexist towards ‘the chicks’. And that’s why Northern Territory born Lou Warren launched the magazine, as an act to empower rural women who love what they do.

The founder of the magazine.

Speaking to news.com.au Warren said:

“It’s about bringing like minded people together, and when you’re living far from the nearest town, you’re often not in touch with that many people. Also, people might not be that accepting of pig shooting, especially for women who are into it, it’s not really accepted.”

Well, feminism comes in all forms…. let’s just hope for the sake of the pigs that it’s humane.
