Happy Leap Day! According to tradition, a woman can freely ask for a man’s hand in marriage today. If that man refuses the proposal, the compensation he has to pay is a silk gown or a kiss. Why you would want to be kissed after being rejected though is beyond me.
The Office
It’s been another busy week in the Mamamia office, we gathered around the TV to watch the Kevin Rudd leadership challenge – I got goosebumps when Julia Gillard appeared in that red power jacket- and we oohed and ahhed over what the A-Listers wore on the Oscars red carpet.
We also have plenty of behind the scenes shots in the gallery, including a few employees you might not have seen before – if you can’t see their faces it’s because they are working too hard to turn around (okay, maybe they are a little camera shy).
The Oscars
The Oscars this year made me nostalgic for the days of fashion disasters. Where were the Björk’s and Lara Flynn Boyle’s of the night? It’s great that everyone is so well dressed (or terrified of making the worst dressed list) but the carefully cultivated and stylist approved outfits make playing ‘Fashion Police’ a little less fun. I did however, think Gwyneth Paltrow’s Tom Ford cape and Rooney Mara’s Givenchy gown were divine.
Angelina’s Right Leg
Angelina’s awkward pose at the Oscars spawned an internet sensation, a twitter account with more than 33,000 followers and even a Pinterest account. I didn’t expect to find this funny two days after Oscar night, but it still is. I can’t help but think somewhere someplace Jennifer Aniston is laughing her head off.
Operation Beautiful
In the age of internet bullying, websites like Operation Beautiful restore my faith in humanity. The goal of the site is to end negative self-talk by encouraging people to leave anonymous notes with messages of positive reinforcement. Take a flick look through the gallery and check out the one we have put up in the office bathroom.

OMM- totally shit week. And for no particular reason. Just feel so utterly miserable. And just had a totally ridiculous spat with my best friend that's been the last straw and now can't stop crying. I've tried eveything that'd usually help- Thai, cookie dough icecream, wine and PS I Love You- no help. I just feel like its so hard heaing into my thirties totally alone, and watching friends get married and have babies. I know that's an utterly FWP to be crying about when there are people starving to death and being raped and mrdered. But kjust feel utterly devastated atm.
Sorry to complain- off to bed and hopefully will have snapped out of it in the morning!

Am in a similar boat to you. One of the last single girls standing. My best friend was single for a long time too, and had always vowed things wouldn't change when she got a boyfriend, but they have. Her conversations are peppered with his name, she consults him before committing to plans, it sucks. I feel at the moment everytime I log into facebook someone else is engaged, married or having a baby! We just have to have faith that our time will come and there are other things we need to accomplish first. Hope you feel better today!
