Do You Like This Story?

By REBECCA SPARROW

In 30 seconds this video is going to make your Monday a whole lot brighter. And it’s going to have you longing for the summer holidays in a BIG way.

The filmmakers clearly had just one goal when they shot this:  to make people smile.

So what’d they do?

For absolutely no reason a group of people got together and hit the beach in taffeta and tuxes. That’s right. A crowd you would usually expect to see in a hotel ballroom (or drunk at a taxi stand waiting for a cab and singing Khe Sanh) are swimming, surfing and building sandcastles on the beach.

It makes me happy just thinking about it.

This video sums up everything I want my summer to be:  Joyful. Silly. Carefree. And with a blow up whale beach toy. I’m also quite keen on the idea of wearing a strapless ballgown into the water rather than normal swimmers.  That idea has serious merit.

Meanwhile I can’t remember the last time I did anything this free-spirited?  Although the footage of the guy and girl wading into the water did bring back memories of the Red Cross Desperate and Dateless Balls in the early 90s at Dreamworld where everyone seemed to end up in the fountain at midnight.

So when’s the last time you felt this carefree and reckless?  And is that a goldfish kite? (If it is, I seriously want one …).

When’s the last time you did something this ridiculous?  And are you looking forward to summer?

I think the reactions from the bystanders is funnier than anything else!

Thanks for sharing this Bec. I checked out where the vid came from and their website states:

“Improv Everywhere is a New York City-based prank collective that causes scenes of chaos and joy in public places.”

Now THAT’S a pretty nice goal in this day and age, I would think!

    That does look like fun.

But growing up in Australia, specifically Port Stephens, makes me think “Wow, that beach is really ugly”. (Spoilt brat much??)

Is it just me, or are only a handful of people actually wearing anything resembling black tie?

It’s a cute video, but it just looks like one of the many casual beach weddings I’ve been to.
