Open Post: What's happening in your world?

Welcome to this week’s Open Post!

If you’re new to this thing, Open Post is a little weekly tradition where we all catch up and share what’s been going on in our lives – the good, the bad, and the “ADVICE NEEDED ASAP”. You can talk about anything and everything that is happening in your world; everything’s on the table for discussion here.

Got the gist?

Alright then, we’ll start.

Ain’t no party like a budget party.

No seriously, there is literally no other party at which you can eat pizza while live-tweeting the revelations of the Federal Budget, which is exactly what the Mamamia team did last night.

Our office party, instigated by our editor Jam (who, in case you missed it, loves Australian politics as much as the rest of us loved chowing down on Crust pizza for the evening), kicked off at about 6pm last night.

Jam was tweeting serious political commentary like this:

Meanwhile, Rosie was hilariously interpreting the evening’s events via a live twitter feed… Which started like this:

The contrast between the resulting commentary streams can be summarised by this excellent tweet:

On a more serious note, we’re feeling pretty low about some of the budget measures announced by Joe Hockey last night, like deregulation of uni fees, the introduction of co-payments for GP visits and the raising of the pension eligibility age to 70; Have a look at this post for a five-minute breakdown of exactly what those changes — and others — will entail.

And then let us know what you think in the comments section below; we’d love to hear what you think.

That’s enough from us. What’s happening in your world?
