First step marriage, next step official royal speeches.
Kate Middleton delivered the speech at the opening of a hospice, called The Treehouse – a charity where she is an ambassador.
And according to reports from news outlets around the world, the Duchess of Cambridge nailed it.
Have a look.

I think Kate always looks lovely and polished, but I’m totally bored by her. Now Mary – there’s a style icon who still always looks polished and appropriate, but actually wears interesting stuff!

I can’t help wondering, looking back at the earlier pics of her in the gallery, if she has had some kind of facial enhancement surgery…can’t quite put my finger on exactly what, as it would’t be much, maybe just a shave off the nose, something with the eyes…? She definitely looks prettier in the lead up to and since the wedding….I mean she always was amazingly gorgeous, but there’s something about her face I just can’t put my finger on – and it’s not just her weight……anyone else see it or am I the only one?

I really think it is her new teeth – they change her face and her whole look. I could be wrong but I have always thought the same, that she does look different from earlier.

shes got new teeth??

Her name and title is Catherine Duchess of Cambridge. She ceased being Kate Middleton almost a year ago when she married into the Royal Family.

She is very sweet – think she sounded quite nervous, but why wouldn’t you on your first time? Hopefully as she becomes more accustomed to it, she will sound more ‘natural’ and a little less stilted, but great job for a first go.
Tough gig too – I suspect that a children’s hospice is a rather emotionally charged place.

Good on her. Poor girl having everything she does analyzed. Too skinny, too common, too whatever…leave her alone. Can’t believe I’m writing this as I think the entire royal family is outdated and unnecessary, but thats another debate.

Kate Middleton did well, nervous? Of course! I am sure will do very well. I believe she has been tutored for years, good; Royal Family do not want a re-run of the Princess of Wales. She will be excellent for the Royal Family. And because she does not have the charisma of Diana, that spark, she will not out shine the rest of the Royal Family. When I see her on the cover of a magazine I am not tempted to buy. We are told she is beautiful, she is an attractive girl who has been styled but not a “star” (for want of a better word), which is probably what the “firm” requires. I wish her luck.

Thanks so much for not commenting on the fact that she wore her mother’s dress!!! Who cares!!

I dunno… good on her for giving her clothes a bit of wear! Goodness knows she doesn’t have to, but what a great example she sets by not wasting clothes and accessories. Should be pointed out to every teenage girl in the world!

I like the Duchess of Cambridge I really do, but will someone please give that girl a BigMac!

why? so she can look more like you?

Why on earth are people bagging her accent? As if she’d put it on.. it’s an accent for gods sake. And about her nerves.. I’m sure you’d be calm and casual when you know that it’s all over the news for everyone to judge your first speech.

She will relax and improve with experience and good luck to her. I would not describe her as beautiful though she is attractive but not a classic beauty. She has no charisma. My opinion before I am howled down. I wish her well. I don t want to rush out and buy a magazine when she is on the cover.

I just love her.

Her accent sounds so different from her laid back accent in their engagement interview… I love Kate she’s so beautiful she seemed
So nervous it was as if the speech didn’t come from her and her heart because she kept reading. It can only get easier from here though I couldn’t imagine doing that kudos!

‘Overdone accent?’ Sorry, guys, that’s how many upper class English girls who have spent most of their education at boarding schools do speak. No elocution lessons required
I thought she did pretty well – not the most exciting speech, but as she headed towards the end, she managed to get more warmth and naturalness into her voice. She was also a bit hamstrung by the fact that her lectern was so low, which meant she looked really obvious when she was looking at her notes.

Kind of annoying how she keeps looking down and pausing for so long! Not to mention her overdone accent! Here’s hoping she gets better at it!

Oh, cut the girl some slack!

I imagine it was nerves, and also that it would have been an emotional visit and emotional topic to speak on. I do quite a bit of public speaking through my work and to me she seemed very nervous but genuinely moved.
Not a big fan of the royal family by the way, but figure it must be a daunting thing to take on.

Oh, she sounded a bit nervous, understandably, but it was lovely all the same.
And, all I can hear is Hermione Granger from Harry Potter.. is it just me?
loading...
I thought that too!

Oh the poor girl! She was obviously so nervous. It will get easier Kate!
loading...
Sounds like she’s had elocution lessons!
Edit: That’s not a criticism. Just an observation.

I’m sure she has! I find Princess Mary has the same pauses and style (which is also just an observation)

Mary is the worst! Now she’s a Dane, she sometimes struggles to use the correct English word or correct order of words!
Honestly Mary, try to remember that you are a native english speaker (sigh)

I don’t think that’s really fair. When you speak one language all day, constantly, it can be difficult to switch back easily – everyone’s mind is not the same when it comes to this kind of thing.
I struggle to revert back to perfect English after I’ve spent 3 months at a time in Eastern Europe, and vice versa.

Having done a direct swap with Mary I’d like to add that my Danish is slipping. While I’m pretty ‘whatever’ with regard to the royals I do take my hat off to Mary fog learning such a horrible and complicated language so well. She’s done an awesome job, and that has to come at a cost. It’s really hard to maintain more than one language.

I think she did a great job. The pauses between some sentences seemed a bit long though. Still, I thought she was good, especially as she knew she would be scrutinized all around the world!
loading...
She definitely warmed up. Imagine how nervous she would have been. I guess it will all become much more routine after the millionth one of these she has done.
God I’m obsessed with her hair though.

Me too, it’s stunning
loading...
Nawww… she is so adorable!

Who really gives a sh*t. Report real news thanks, not this crap.

That’s a bit harsh! This is news – news today is viral, it’s about everyday occurances and pop culture. It’s also about people, and Kate Middleton happens to be quite an influential figure in the present day.

If you don’t like it Mel, don’t read it. Plain and simple.

Where does it even say this is news?
(Meanwhile this was on the news I watched over breakfast)

New or not, I’m happy to hear about it!

Mamamia isn’t really the place I would go to if I only wanted hard news…?

Dont read it or comment then

It shows how petty society has become *slow clap* to you all
