Welcome to the Friday Afternoon Feel Good.
Where we give you a little something (no, not THAT kind of something) that will ensure you start the weekend smiling.
And tonight, you have the great nation of Spain and a helpful grandma to thank for the cheeky grin you’re about to have plastered all over your face. Hurra Viva!
In Borja, Spain, an elderly woman has taken it upon herself to help restore a painting by Elias Garcia Martinez.
The painting was in a nearby church that was open to the public. As a result, she was free to stroll on in, paintbrush in hand and do a little fixer-up-er-ing.
And nobody realised what she’d done until she was finished.

Here is what the original painting looked like....
Have a wonderful weekend!

tears of laughter and mad dash to the toilet at my house.

This is something my mother would do! Somehow she had a box of memory stuff incl embroidery from my textile degree, program’s from shows I’ve worked on & she turned it into a disastrous scrapbook photo album for my 40th. I was devastated that she’d cut it all up & written on some pieces & of course completely offended her when I didn’t gush about what a thoughtful gift it was.

I did something similiar for my mother. I collected all her old recipes and stuck them together in a book. I thought it was a great idea. She was not impressed. She liked having the recipes loose and knowing where each and every recipe was.

This is definitely something my gorgeous, overenthusiastic, “I swear this will help and not hinder you!” grandmother would do!!

Friday afternoon let down. Terribly sad. It’s like the taliban destroying the budda statues.

This did make me wonder if ppl would be up in arms if it had been an old artwork of some other religious figure. I’m not a particularly sentimental person so it doesn’t worry me, but I can understand how some might be devastated. Funny, but disrespectful at the same time. Nevertheless I will think the best of the dear old duck who did it & assume she wasn’t quite in her right mind.

no, not disrespectful, just misguided.
I read in the paper that they can’t charge her with graffiti because her intent was not to destroy but to beautify!
Well, she’s beautified my day!!!!!!

As a lover of art and history this makes me sad.
As a Mr Bean fan this makes me think of Whistlers Mother and laugh and cringe at the same time. Life imitates art, then despoils art.
