This week has been all about putting on my game face. My, ‘why yes, I’m completely normal’ face. Attempting not to let the inner-batty girl out.
Full time for two weeks: I’m one of the interns at Mamamia.
And I am so very, very excited. (To put it very, very mildly.)
When I told friends and family that I was coming up to Sydney to intern, messages poured in that all said the same thing: “Have a great time, I know how much you love Mamamia.”
The things that I do normally each day have suddenly become things I have to remind myself to do – like, ah, breathe. Putting on a work face (rather than a crazy stalker face) when I’m talking to Mia. Trying not to fall off my seat during Editorial Meetings because I am actually here.
It’s been amazing this week at Mamamia HQ, to see first-hand how everything gets put together. Everyone is crazy talented, dedicated and amazing. I’ve read the website for years and being here has been one of the best experiences of my life.
I loved going down memory lane with the 90s photos - just hilarious! My head used to be an explosion of butterfly clips, and my sister and I had to share a Tamagotchi, much to our dismay.
There seem to have been so many awful stories this week, but Todd Akin’s comments really made me squirm. But I have to admit I did have a giggle at the Todd Akin’s Legitimate Rape Kit meme that’s in the gallery.
There have been plenty of other things happening around the office and the site lately, too – take a look:

We laughed at how many of you 'liked' this on FB. We've all done it!

I’m on my way to Barcelona, and I would love MMers tips on where to go and what to see. I’m a 27 year old female traveling by myself, just to give you some context.

Stay at Melon marina hostel
Spend a day visiting all the Gaudi architechture (recommend going inside La Pedera- the museum displays are awesome)
Have dinner at Dans de Noir (dinner in the dark). Expensive but once in a life experience, really makes you appreciate the gift of sight.

Confession: Pegging dry guest sheets on the apartments communal washing line at 10pm so as to reserve space for my stuff in the morning. People hog it. Its the only way i get space.

Genius, girl!

Worst: Fractured my arm playing basketball yesterday. Now have a very annoying plaster.
No bests

Best: I had my first child – a little boy – on Thursday night. Nothing will top this feeling.
Worst: I know I shouldn’t have thought like this but I didn’t expect my belly to still be so damn flabby! Other than that, everything is still a little sore. Well worth it though.
OMM: “I really need to buy some more bread.”
loading...
Congratulations! What beautiful news! Xxx

Best: Everything. Traveling the world, being in love, having a wonderful job to go back to = I’m very grateful for everything. It sounds like it’s also been an exciting week for a lot of MM people too, so congratulations to everyone.
My “worst” isn’t really a worst: I was so disappointed to see how rude and nasty commentators were being to Shazza in the “our sex life is pathetic” post. I don’t know Shazza, but where has all this judgement and viciousness come from? Why are people getting attacked on this site – let alone just for talking about how they met their husband, for god’s sake! Focus on love, people!! Let go of the hate! She could have met him by rooting him in a club bathroom for all I care – so long as they’re happy, how is it hurting anyone?? Silly.

Best: Had a job interview on Monday that went well (I think).
Worst: counted them up, and have applied for 22 jobs in the last 24 months. Only had about 4 interviews from those 22 applications, and no offers.
Best: I currently have a job that I want to leave, but don’t hate. So the job hunting is not urgent.
Worst: have to drive from Canberra to Penrith tomorrow and be in Penrith by 10am. Urgh.
Best: the drive is because our band is competing in the NSW Band Championships.
Worst: there is another band in our grade/section who are the Australian champions in that grade/section. That’s a long way to drive to come second….
OMM: whether my colleague is a workplace sociopath or just annoying.
loading...
Ooh, good luck in the band championships!
Are you guys going to come to Perth for the Nationals next year? I don’t think we will be back from the US in time…I am bitterly disappointed!
loading...
Thanks Rach. It was disappointing. We were 4th out of 5 bands to play so because we had to drive from Canberra, we didn’t get to hear any the earlier bands. We only heard the band who played 5th. They were pretty good, but we all thought they were not heaps better than us (they are the national champs). Anyway, the band we heard won easily. We came 3rd, by one point, on a count back! We actually tied for 2nd and in the case of a tie, whoever won the test piece gets the place. The band that came 2nd beat us by 1 point in the test piece. So 6 hours driving to actually come 3rd. Booo!
The test piece was an odd arrangement called 4 dances from West Side Story. We played Music for a Festival for our own choice and On a Hymnsong of Phillip Bliss for the sacred item.
I had no idea the national champs were in Perth next year. I’m a Perth girl! I don’t think we’re likely to travel, but I’d love it if we did!!

I commented in last weeks Open Post, saying I wasn’t sure about whether to stay in my current living situation. Well!
Best: I’ve decided to leave the house and move in with good girlfriends that I’ve lived with before when the lease expires.
Worst: trying to work out how to tell my current housemates I’m leaving. I’m not sure what to say, and want to keep the friendship intact. They know the girls I’ll be living with so it might be a bit awkward!
Any advice on how to tackle the subject and what reasons to give?
loading...
Could you tell a white lie and say one of your girlfriends has bought a house so is overing you super cheap rent to help with the mortgage? That way it’s no insult to them, it’s purely financial. Or you could say a gf has broken up with her bf and is devastated, and needs someone to move out with. What do you think? I’m trying to think of things that allow you to make it clear that you loved living with them (another white lie!) and that you want to stay friends, but that other things have come up.
loading...
Hi Alice, thanks for you reply!
The only thing is, we are at uni still so they know that there is no way said friend could buy a house. But! Her brother in law is buying it so that might be something I can use! Thanks! And we all know each other so the boyfriend thing, while genius!, wouldn’t work either. Thanks though, you’ve got me thinking!

Best: Managed to run for 20 minutes this week without stopping. Yay! Don’t think I have ever done that in my whole life, not even when I was a fit(ter) teenager playing sport. I get asthma when I run so this feels like a huge miracle. Apparently, building up slowly is working!!!
Worst: rain, storm, wind, storm, rain… it’s putting a big dent in my running!
loading...
Well done you! It’s so hard to build up to run for that long, I’ve never been able to do it outside, only on the treadmill.
How long did it take you?
loading...
Thanks Jess and Alice!
It feels really quick, Jess. I started the Couch to 5k program nearly 6 weeks ago and really struggled to run for 60 seconds in that first week. The hardest part has been believing I can do each new distance but now I’m starting to feel that anything is possible
Can’t wait until I can do 5k without stopping!!

Well done clever poppet!

BEST: Living in Queensland. The weather is spectacular and the weekend is looking awesome.
WORST: Living in Queensland. I’m just waiting for Can-do to start burning books, censor the press and round up a minority or two for cleansing. Well, the public service had nothing to fear….

Best:
Paid our home off today! We still have other debt but our home is paid off, great feeling
Worst:
Keep getting symptoms on and off now for a couple of years which I put down to/scare myself into thinking I have MS. The more I think about it the worse the symptoms seem so I realise that a lot of these things can be anxiety related because when I forget about it the symptoms go, and made worse by stressing about it. I have been to the doctor in the past who kind of brushed me off and said he didn’t think it was that, but without an MRI I don’t know..
Worst: why are donuts and tim tams so cheap at the shops, they are too delicious
loading...
Congratulations!!!
loading...
WELL DONE!!
So jealous – I dream of that day.
loading...
MS has crossed mind recenlty ,,, a couple of things …
But to think/worryfor 2 years is a whlle
Can you see another Dr? If this isnt possible I would make a long enough appointment to really have time to discuss your worries. Perhaps take a list.of your concerns as well
Great news about the house

What a week for MM-ers – I feel like I’ve said congratulations to half the commenters! Glad everyone is having so much success. Well done Claire! xx

Best: girls night tonight with wine and cheese. My favourite past time.
Worst: Have been told to improve my productivity at work. But have no work to do. Feeling as though this is a deliberate phase out..
OMM: job hunting this weekend. *sigh*
loading...
Its been a week of mixed emotions for me this week
Best: ,I’m off to Europe for six weeks next Saturday so am so excited for that!
Worst: I’m actually moving before I leave, which is going well but halfway through my packing I went looking for my passport and couldn’t find it (not sure why I left it so late to pull it out) so I spent a night flitting between crying an searching frantically. So I reported the old one missing, applied r a new passport, paid the regular fee, priority processing fee and the lost fee ($450 later!) and then in my packing last night my housemate found my passport thrown into a bag in the manhole in the garage. I am still furious with myself about how I could be so careless, and ive only told a select few close friends that ive found it the mistake is too hard to accept! but it’s a very expensive lesson learned and I guess I’m lucky I have the means to afford going overseas and paying for the new passport.
Picked it up today, needless to say I’ve photocopied it about 5 times!
Happy Friday everyone!
loading...
I had the same thing happen when I was leaving England and returning to Australia. Only for some reason the “report the old one missing” aspect failed and I was picked up at customs for using an illegal passport (the new one) simply because the old one was still in the system. Can I suggest you double check with the passport office (or better yet, hand it in in person) that it has actually been deactivated? If you aren’t able to do that I suggest keeping both on you in case you get picked up. My situation was dealt with relatively easily, but it was on return into Australia. I don’t know what it would be like to have a problem on the outbound leg – stressful!
Best of luck with your travels – have a great time!

Thought about playing it cool for a minute, but just like you Megan it’s hard for me to contain my excitement….(I may or may not have had to text my Mum to tell her I am officially famous).
My Best is today my article was published on Mamamia! http://www.mamamia.com.au/mamamia-cares/miss-representation-the-documentary-you-need-to-see/
So grateful to the Mamamia team for promoting this incredibly powerful and eye opening film and even more so for Jamila for agreeing to come and be on the panel discussion after the screening. So that’s a whole lot of bests rolled into one for me! So for anyone who wants to meet the person behind the site and awesome articles Jamila this event is your chance….bonus is you’ll also see an incredible film.
Hard to think of a worst when I’m on such a high today

Well done Bride. And Megan you’re post was fabulous too. Always interesting to see how MM is perceived from the outside vs the inside!

I can’t wait. It’s such an amazing doco. Everyone should see it!!!

Hi MM my comment went to spam and I was hoping the most recent one could be restored. I understand if it is too graphic but was hoping for some advice. Thank you!

Hi Guest!
So sorry it went to spam! Have rescued both posts – best of luck with that, it sounds awful. Worrying is the worst.
Try and make an app with your doctors?

Thanks Megan. I am going to the Doctor Monday, just hoping for some reassurance with someone who might have gone through a similar scare, so I can sleep this weekend!
loading...
*TRY* not to stress about it as it wont help your symptoms/prognoses as it will just do your head in. And looking at it for more than hour won’t cure it/help either.
Could be something as little as an in grown hair.
Breathe….and good luck for Monday!

My comment went to spam trying again.
Best: Nothing, worried about the below. WARNING MAY BE A BIT GRAPHIC
Worst: Worried I have herpes. The case for: I had one tiny blister, the size of a pin head, near my vagina. It burst and it hurts. It popped up two weeks after protected sex (herpes timing, according to Google). You can get herpes even with a condom apparently. Also a change in discharge.
Case against: I have no other symptoms (like pain when peeing, flu symptoms, aches) and they say the first case is the worst. And that it is usually more than one blister and they are bigger than a pin head. It is in a spot I often have shaving troubles (although I haven’t shaved for a couple of weeks). It is also in a potential chafing spot (I am overweight). Discharge is consistent with thrush which I am prone to and I did read in rare cases thrush can cause a blister/ulcer. Also the sex was protected which does lower the chances of herpes, although not completely.
Baaaah. SO stressed and can’t get to the doctor until Monday. I will be getting checked out. Looking for reassurance. One tiny tiny blister and no other symptoms – big worry? Anyone had a tiny blister and a reason for it other than herpes? : ( : (
loading...
maybe it is an infected hair follicle. I had a similar thing and the doc said it folliclitis (or however you spell it). Best get it checked out tho.
loading...
I agree with nursee, I had something similar (like you, no other symptoms) and it was an infected follicle
loading...
Best: Can’t think of anything. Too stressed out about the below.
Worst: (this may be too much info) I have a tiny blister near my vagina. Just one, very very small. Size of a pin head. It popped and it hurts. I had sex, protected two weeks ago, so according to Google the timing is suss. But Google says herpes blisters are usually bigger?
I have no other symptoms of herpes (like pain when peeing, body aches, flu symptoms). None at all. Just this one little blisters. It it is also in a spot where I sometimes have a shaving issue. But I haven’t shaved in couple of weeks. Herpes? Thrush? Shaving? Something else? I am also overweight and have had chafing before, but never in that spot. But it is a potential chafing spot (see how I am trying to reassure myself?)
I can’t get into the doctor until Monday, I will do the responsible thing and get checked. Hoping for some sort of reassurance….like ‘yes I had a tiny blister and it was nothing!’. : (
I can’t stop looking at it with a mirror. I mean, for about an hour. It is so tiny you can barely see it but it does hurt.
loading...
I had a work mate who had a pimple down there that popped and it was excruciating. I hope this is what yours turns out to be when you see the Dr.

Worst: watching my 6 year old suffer through Chicken Pox. She has it so badly that her scalp and … er, Vulva (thank you) are covererd in sores and just weeing is making her cry. She also misses her twin brother and sisters birthday party tomorrow because she is infectious.
Best: the twins didn’t get it too … Yet. Oh and the fact that my son amusingly seems to think his big sister has been “bitten by chickens”. Also awaiting arrival of a good friend from interstate .. Have a bottle of bubbly in the fridge (might even share it).
loading...
Poor little thing! When I was 9 I had them internally and externally as well. It sucked.
loading...
Ouch! Poor younger you
Mum tells me I got them when I was just 6 months old, all through my nappy area, screamed my head off each time I weed.
loading...
Poor younger you too! I think that’s worse than an older child to be honest. At least your daughter understands why (even if she might not think it’s fair etc).
loading...
Get some zinc/nappy cream to cover her vulva sores. It will make the wees a little less painful

Best: The Prince Harry scandal made my week. He is so entertaining. Carry on Harry. Carry on.
http://mum-abulous.com/2012/08/24/dirty-harry/
Worst: Having the freedom to wander around Westfield Bondi Junction but not being able to justifying forking out the cash for all the pretty things my heart desired.
loading...
Best #1: It’s Friday and I leave for Sydney on Sunday! Much excited!
Best #2: Deleted 80+ friends on FB that didn’t need to be there, and it felt good!
OMM: Concerned about the state work will b when I get back. They have NO ONE to cover for me!
Maybe I should try for an internship at MM?

I’ve already said my best and worst but I was wondering if anyone knows where you can buy pink jeans for a 4 year old boy at a reasonable price? I’ve found blue, green and red but not pink and he is a bit obsessed.
loading...
Being simplistic but couldn’t you just buy them from the girls section? Target and Kmart have heaps of them
loading...
This may be a really silly question but would the fit be the same? I did think of that but wasn’t sure if they made the cut differently.
loading...
At this age the cut would be much the same, but pumpkin patch have adjustable sides on a lot of their jeans.
loading...
Pumpkin Patch! I work there and we had pink jeans, there may be some left in some stores

Fantastic. Will go and have a look. Thank you for your help

Best: Life in general has been really good this week. Exercise, diet, hubby all good!
Worst: Sometime between Tuesday night and yesterday afternoon my car (which was parked in my driveway) was broken into. Well, actually hubby accidently left doors unlocked and someone just happened to noticed (how?!). Luckly there was nothing in the car to take but it just makes me feel so ill, they were so close to our house, were we home when they went through it?. But really how the hell did they realise the door was unlocked?.
I thought we were in a good area..
On a happier note, trying to figure our where to go for our next holiday in October, Hamilton Island or Hawaii?? Votes pls!
loading...
I found Hawaii kinda dull. It looked like every other beachy place minus much in the way of culture, good nightlife or experiences. I went to the main island and Maui for over a week and was out every day doing stuff. So I did give it a good go.
It was very expensive, being an American island where everything is imported. It was over developed. There was little culture and I did look for traditional Hawaiian culture. Maui had some pretty parts but was mostly just endless identikit condos.
Waikiki Beach was like the Gold Coast. Crappy chain restaurants on every corner, watered down cocktails, this junk shop called ABC every few blocks selling plastic tat. Up around other parts of the main island were nicer but I felt surfers would get more out of it than tourists.
If you want beachy Hamilton Island will give you the same thing a much better price. If you want beachy + culture go to Asia. The best thing I can say about Hawaii is that it is quite safe and the weather is very stable – it was perfect weather every day and seems to be like that nearly all year round. It doesn’t get stinking hot and it doesn’t get cold.
Maybe other people loved Hawaii but it was a real no for me.
loading...
Yeah Hawaii didn’t really do it for me either
loading...
I vote Hamilton Island! Or Broome & the Kimberley region if you can get up there – AMAZING. I was there about a year ago and I’m so desperate to get back there.
loading...
Hamilton Island is lovely… but it’s really expensive. I lived there for 3 years once upon a time… you could have an island holiday somewhere abroad for the same or less money.
But, if you’ve never been to the Whitsundays and you want to see the Great Barrier Reef, go for it!
loading...
we just did the cook islands and i have to say – best place ever. so much better than hawaii and all in NZD!
loading...
Hamilton Island is beautiful and doesn’t need to be too expensive. We rented a private apartment and although there’s a grocery store, Coles online deliver right to your door.

Found this this week. May well be my best.
Worst: tired. My kids schedules take over sometimes and the routine can get to you. Roll on Friday night glass of wine.
loading...
Have been too busy to have a best & worst. The week has just been like one very long day with occasional naps and snacks
OMM: I’m having a dinner party tomorrow. The idea struck me in a moment of caffeine-fueled insanity and now I’m somewhat regretting it because I have never ever ever had a dinner party before… ever. Everyone, please hit me with recipes for sangria and pizza. The rest will hopefully work itself out!

Favourite pizza recipe at the moment:
Thin base topped with a simple tomato sauce and buffalo mozzarella (or baby bocconcini)
Bake till crispy and the cheese is melted.
Then top with lots of proscuitto and basil leaves.
Simple and so tasty!
loading...
It will definitely work out! Don’t stress too much, your friends are coming to see you and enjoy your company, not critique your homemaking skills.
Serve your pizza with a big side salad (I recommend rocket andsliced pear, with a dash of balsamic vinegar and some parmesan – walnuts or pinenuts optional) and all will be well. xx
loading...
Lebanese bread makes a quick & easy base if you’re running out of time, just pop it in the oven for 5 mins 1st to crisp it up a little before adding toppings – good luck!
loading...
Nat, get your pizza bases ready (make or buy, Nigella would say buy, Jamie would say make…) and then get lots of different toppings out on the table or bench and have everyone make their own!
We’ve done this umpteen times and people love it. It’s very social too and everyone gets into the spirit and enjoy trying each other’s creations.
loading...
A bbq chook is a great thing to have on hand when making pizzas.
I like a chicken caesar pizza.
loading...
Great idea! I’m pinching that too!

Hi Nat,
Last weekend my BF made really, really great pizzas with homemade dough and also homemade tomato sauce (or tomato sugo). It was fantastic. We did toppings like spinach, mushrooms, capscium, etc. I think the roasted chicken idea is excellent and I always love pineapple on mine!
Recipe for tomato sugo is:
- 1 x 400g tin of good-quality tinned tomatoes (I think we used whole plum)
- extra virgin olive oil
- 1 clove of garlic, peeled and finely sliced
- salt + pepper
- basil, roughly torn
It is super easy. Just heat a saucepan with a glug of olive oil, and add the sliced garlic (we added some chilli flakes and this point) and cook gently for 1 -2 minutes. Then when its slightly golden add the tomatoes, salt + pepper and as much basil as you like and simmer gently for anywhere between 20 minutes and 2 hours.
It is super easy, can’t screw it up and you can make it ahead and put it in the fridge. We adapted from this recipe:http://www.lifestylefood.com.au/recipes/10218/simple-tomato-sugo
The dough recipe is found here and has no yeast:
http://www.pizzamenu.com/pizza-dough-without-yeast.html
Good luck and I hope this helps!

Nat my friend recently made this sangria using elderflower liqueur
1 bottle sauvignon blanc (750ml)
1- 1.5 cups elderflower liqueur
1/4 cup cointreau
6 strawberries sliced
6 rasperries
2 peaches sliced
1 orange thinly sliced
400-500grams red/green grapes
Ice
Combine all of the ingredients in a pitcher and let stand at room temperature for 3 hours, or cover and refrigerate overnight. Serve in wineglasses over ice.

That sounds amazing. Locking it up until summer. Yum.

Best: Buying new running shoes this afternoon! Have taken up running and mine kiiillll my feet so very excited to go out and get some new ones.
Best 2: Had a lovely dinner last night with 2 girlfriends, so good to catch up over amazing food.
Best 3: My running tip jar ($1 per run in an online savings account) is growing! Can’t wait until it is built up to a nice amount and I can go out and splurge on myself!
Worst: Um….nothing!

I love this running tip jar idea! Amazing!

Best: Cooling off period has finished on the place we are buying, we move in three weeks, can’t wait.
Worst: We borrowed the keys for our new place from the Real Estate Agent and then I locked them in the house…stupid duffa, $88 later to call a locksmith…Hubby was nice about it though.
OMM: This gorgous weather Sydney has yesterday, and more packing.
Have a great weekend one and all.
loading...
Best: My birthday! To be honest I’m not used to people actually taking the time to make an effort so I was completely overwhelmed with the number of people who did take the time yesterday to make my day special. I also won tickets to see a play that night so that was an extra birthday surprise!
Worst: There was a uni test that morning…luckily it wasn’t too bad!
OMM: Local election coming up and the first time I get to vote!
loading...
Best: Finished postnatal placement for the year! Feels good to be able to tick something off. Had a really good last day, looked after a lovely couple who were really cheerful and keen to learn, asked heaps of questions.
Also best: Had a job interview yesterday and it went really well. Couldn’t have done any better I think. Its my only chance for a grad year next year so I hope I did enough to get a job.
OMM: Had a bit of a relationship crisis this week. Won’t go into the details but I cried a lot and questioned a lot of stuff I believe. I think I have come out stronger on the other side. My mum and besties really helped me get through. I am so blessed to have such amazing women around me.
Worst: nothing worth mentioning. Oh, I can’t have the heater on cos it wakes up my house mate and its FREEZING!
loading...
I have been heating up a wheat pack before I got to bed and sticking it under my doona. It’s better than a heater, I go to sleep all toasty and warm.
loading...
WORST: This week of work has seriously draggggged its feet! And today I am staring dumbly at my computer screen counting the minutes until it is the weekend…..zero motivation and zero care factor!
BEST: Make up trial for the wedding tomorrow as well as getting to visit a very cute nephew who I haven’t seen in awhile! Can’t wait for some hugs!
loading...
Best: I got to wear SHORTS this week, bring on the warm weather! SO looking forward to spring!
Worst: I can’t think of one…must have been a good week!
loading...
Best & worst: My mum was diagnosed with swine flu last week. She has been very unwell but is on the mend as she only got a small dose due to getting the flu injection.
I was quite stressed that my little boys would get it as they had cuddles from nanny just before she was diagnosed. A week later and no sign of illness.
Best: another birthday party for my 4 year old this weekend. This child has a better social life than anyone I know. So glad he is making friends at daycare.
loading...
Oh no that is awful! I hope your mum gets better soon and it isn’t passed on to your kids.

Best: I think I have found my soul mate. Well to be fair I have known him for a long time. We have decided to be together whatever it takes.
Worst: I only ended a (disfunctional, unhappy) 7 yr relationship 3 1/2 months ago and have done a lot of soul-searching stuff since then. I am actually really enjoying being single, feeling like me again. I know its not a terrible worst to have but I just hope i’m not rushing into this. What do you do when you find your other half. It would be stupid to wait any longer right?
loading...
Well, if he is happy to do whatever it takes then surely that would include giving you enough time to move on from your ex, ‘find yourself’, and start a new relationship with him.
so exciting that you found ‘the one’.
Good luck

I left my very dysfunctional marriage and only a few weeks later met the most incredible guy. I battled for months loving his company but feeling guilty about it being so soon, every few days I would tell him I couldn’t do it and just needed to be friends. He was fantastic, understood, gave me all the time I needed and here we are years later still together, with a couple of kids.
Sometimes to need to follow your heart and take a risk.
Good luck.

Best: Heading to Melbourne for the weekend. Taking my bf as a (post-anniversary) treat. We’ll only be there for one full day but I’m still looking forward to it.
Best #2: Should get to meet the lovely LPC! Can’t wait.
Best #3: The weather is warming up – spring is on its way.
Best #4: I’ve lost weight and gained lots of strength over the past few weeks. People are noticing and I’m feeling very proud.
Worst: FWP: None of my clothes fit properly. I guess I’ll have to go shopping. *sigh*

Enjoy Melbourne picardie.girl!

Melbourne is the perfect place to shop up a storm! It’s chilly here today after a lovely few days though. Pack a jacket!

Hi Jane!
The fab Nat will be leaving a comment soon with the info.

Great! thanks
I’m also really interested in where the other positions (mostly your marketing ones) are advertised. I follow you guys on fb, twitter, instagram etc and there seems to be a never ending list of employees (i realise its probably not like that in ‘real’ life). I’ve never seen any of the business positions listed anywhere and would like to keep my eye out in the future.

Best – Moved in with my partner into his house. We had a few little renovations done which set the move back, but this week everything was finished and I took my stuff up. It is an hour away from where I lived with my parents. It is exciting going into this new chapter of my life. We had been living together for a while, I just hadn’t taken any of my belongings up. It makes me happy to see him so happy too, he often stops and grabs me to tell me how right this feels for him, and that he loves waking up next to me every day (awww I loved that one)
Worst – Still feeling guilty for moving out of my parents place. Damn guilt!!! I know they are okay with it, and they both moved interstate away from their families at 19 so they are just thankful I still live in the same state. Money seems to be flying out of my partner & I’s pockets at the moment, can’t seem to stop the huge bills coming in!!
Also need a holiday, its been 12 months since I have taken any annual leave, and won’t be taking any until xmas time. Sanity is being compromised!!! A little trip away to Adelaide and then another to a beautiful forrest cabin with my partner in a month or two shall keep me going

Best: seeing a very faint positive line on a pregnancy test this morning!

Best of luck Emily, I have my fingers crossed that your pregnancy sticks and that you get to become a mummy

What a week.
My best is that I am off up north for a long weekend with some girlfriends. Think wine, good food, dancing, cocktails. Can. Not. Wait.
My worst is the sudden accidental death of a guy I used to go out with. He was off travelling the world, living the dream. We started seeing each other just before he left and I had aways thought I’d see him again. I am sad. And shocked. And sad again. Really hammers home how precious life is. And how you need to tell people how you feel about them before it’s too late.
Also, one more week in my current role before my contract is over. The scary world of unemployment looms. Why do I still not know what I want to be when I grow up?!

I am officially jealous, I am so in need of a girls weekend. Have fun Ella!

All bests for me this week!

Vague boy presence in my life
Life is goooooood

So glad to hear life is rocking on Claire! xx

Worst: still broken hearted and not sure if I made the right choice…did I just let the love of my life go because I think I am too weak to work through things?
Best: Haven’t cried today, yet
loading...
Don’t berate yourself – you obviously went with a gut feeling when you broke up and they’re the best. When one door closes, another one opens – cliched but oh so true. x

No particular B&W this week. All in all I’ve had a pretty crap week however I’ve just spent 2 hours looking at funny e-cards and the ermahgerd memes and now my stomach muscles are sore from laughing!! Made my whole week much better!
loading...
For you!

Hahahahaha!!!! Love it goose!!!! I know it’s simple and a wee bit stupid, but good god I haven’t laughed like that in months!

Best: a new opportunity came up for husband at work and he has been offered a new project. He is very happy and excited so I’m pleased for him. I am *hoping* there will also be a payrise in it but looking doubtful.
Best: We got the extroardinary allowance approved for daycare so we get about 4 months fully paid. Yay!! takes that financial pressure off a tiny bit.
Best: Made some choc chip scrolls this week that were super awesome. Just tasted sensational!!! (I know that doesn’t seem like such a big deal, but they were so yummy! And hey, who doesn’t want to celebrate choc chip scrolls!).
No worsts that I can be bothered writing about, and with choc chip scrolls in the world how can there possibly be any!
Hugs to everyone.

I would also love to celebrate choc chip scrolls! Any chance of sharing the recipe?

It’s really simple and just a basic scone recipe.
but we also made vegemite scrolls and in the past have done pizza ones too).
2 cups self raising flour
2 tablespoons butter
3/4 – 1 cup milk
Filling (I used about 100gm choc chips, can’t be sure exactly how much
Rub the butter and flour together, then pour milk in and mix quickly to form a dough.
Turn out onto a floured board and knead lightly.
Roll out into rectangles (about 20cm wide) and about 1cm thick.
Spread topping onto dough (thinly spread the vegemite or sprinkle choc chips. For pizza ones we use pizza sauce, ham and some parmesan cheese).
From the long side, roll into a long scroll. Cut into small segments.
Brush the top with milk.
Bake in a moderate oven (180 degrees) for 12-15 minutes.
Eat hot straight out of the oven and the chocolate gooey ness is heavenly!!
This recipe works for me even with Miss C helping me so hopefully it works for you too!

I’m definitely going to try making these – I have some leftover choc chips after making choc chip cookies last weekend. Thanks for the recipe! x

My daughter is starting school next year – had our first Parent Information Night yesterday. Before I left to attend it, I asked her if she had any questions for me to ask.. her response:
She cracks me up
Can I take Cake on my Birthday to share with my friends?

Worst: More tantrums from my teenage daughter – so over it.
Best: Dinner with my besties, who have encouraged me to seek some counselling to help cope with it – will go by myself to start, and then my daughter will join on subsequent appointments. Feel such relief – we need to get on top of this now. There are also significant mental health issues in the family so need to check this out – is this behaviour normal teen stuff, or a much bigger problem?
loading...
Oh good luck with this – hopefully it’s just normal teenage stuff!

Goodluck Anonymous! My parents went to see a counsellor when I was a teenager. I was always very angry and constantly took it out on them. They both worked full time and my dad was constantly away with work, so they were exhausted and then had to come home to me. I was totally unreasonable (I can see that now) and they approached me and asked me to see a counsellor with them. I flat out said no, I wasn’t the problem, they were. So they went on their own, I never did ask if they found it helpful. So if your daughter regects the idea, still go just for you.
I did end up being diagnosed with depression at age 19 so there may be mental health issues related to it. With therapy I recovered and at 23 my mental health is great and stable.

This is such a hard stage because it really is hard to tell whether it is normal teenage antics, or if there is more too it. There are 4 girls in my family and we all were different throughout our teenage years, but I know for sure that we all went through the same normal “I hate life, life hates me, everyone is against me” stage. Hopefully it will pass for you just like it did for us. Hopefully counselling will give you some insight and some tips to help everyone deal.
Good luck!

Worst: Absentmindedness making me forget appointments and making me accident-prone…
Best: Had some gorgeous sunny days earlier this week so I was able to get out and enjoy the outdoors:)

Take up knitting and crosswords… very good for the brain and memory.
Apparently, I keep forgetting to do them. Clearly I need the help too!
Oh, and take Fish Oil supplements. Also excellent for brain power!

Best – I got the most amazing reference from my boss
Worst – The Republican Party in the U.S. has now adopted a national platform on abortion and they basically want to outlaw abortion with no amendment added to protect victims of incest or rape.

Republican platform is pretty scary – also want to get rid of all forms of same sex marriage provisions (including civil unions) and stuff like that
Apparently it embodies the ‘party values’ and doesnt necessarily have to be followed (for example, Romney supports the rape/incest exceptions and Ryan supports medical necessity abortion), but still makes the consequences of a Republican president and majority in both houses a preeetty scary thought

I have three bests. One: I took the morning of to do a modelling shoot yesterday, my first one since starting my full time job in Feb. Was great to get back into it and I worked with a great crew, hopefully my lovely boss will let me do more in the future.
Two: Have stuck to my exercise this week (even though the clean eating plan went out the window on Tuesday, meh)
Three: Heading down south to stay with my Mum for the weekend, love going back to the family home and catching up with everyone.
Worst: Work has been full on and I’m just not on top of everything … sigh

Worst: news stuff like Colin from Gardening Australia passing away……grew up watching him and Peter on our tv! also the WA baby who was admitted to hospital with head injuries and passed away last night – i believe she was a fostered child – i hope that they get however did that to her!!…..and Matt Golinski my heart goes out to him what a brave brave man!!!

Best: For now, I have hope. Got a little embryo somewhere inside me, hopefully clinging on for dear life this time. Still have to wait 2 weeks to find out if this one is going to stick around and in some ways, I almost don’t want the time to be up, if it means losing this feeling of hope and having it all come crashing down once again. Just want to hold on to it as long as I can and enjoy fantasising about our wish coming true at last.
Worst: Making dumb mistakes at work because I have such a one-track mind these days. Mad at myself, and wishing I was functioning better. Trying to relax and not be stressed but still have no idea how to do that in reality.
loading...
Fingers and toes are crossed for you xxx

Oh I am sending you EVERY good wish and hope and thought all the way from Adelaide.

Reading that comment just made me burst into tears – that’s a sign, right?

oh fingers, toes, legs, everything crossed for you. Just take it easy and be kind to yourself over the next few weeks. Try not to symptom spot (but I know you will!) or POAS. Sending you hugs and sticky baby dust.
loading...
Funnily enough, I never POAS! Prefer to enjoy my delusions as long as I can…but yep, the symptom spotting is constant (e.g. ‘Hmmmm…I feel like chocolate. That must be a craving! Better give the baby what it wants!’ And so on…)
loading...
Fingers and toes crossed for you and lots of sticky baby dust coming your way

As they say in TTC land – sending you baby dust. There is ALWAYS hope. x

Thanks for all the dust, you lovely folks!
Miss Kate – I’m at Concept for now, but thinking of making the switch to Genea next year if we don’t get lucky before then. Part of me feels like it’s good to stick with the doctors who have had time to get to know your body, but there have been a few things that have had me wanting to leave.

Very best of luck Neola x

Best: My partner took the day off work yesterday so we could take advantage of the lovely weather. We went to the beach with our daughter and had a little picnic. I love that my partner has this sort of flexability with work, they really care about the work/home life balance.
Worst: I have no worsts.
