I am here today – with the help of Buzzfeed – to spread some happy-fun DIY love with all of you.
Because we all need some happiness in our lives and we don’t ALL have time to watch the FRIENDS long-weekend marathon.
Here are 25 easy, DIY ways to create some awesome art for your walls. You’re bound to see something you like in this gallery – and the best part? You can go to the shops this weekend, get some materials and MAKE IT ALL YOURSELF.
And even if DIY isn’t your thing, you can always just look at the pictures and ooh and aah over the creativity of others.
Caring is sharing.

Run crayons through a hot glue gun to create a colourful textured masterpiece.
Some people love shoes. Some people love handbags. Others have a dangerous addiction to food blogs, or golf, or collecting garden gnomes.
Me? I’m kind of dangerously obsessed with DIY. I never met a project involving photos, glitter and a staple gun that I didn’t like. My ideal world would be some kind of Martha Stewart-esque castle filled with things like jars and fabric and buttons and cardboard toilet paper rolls and GLUE. LOTS AND LOTS OF GLUE.
There would also be some kind of underground Spotlight in the basement of the Martha Stweart-esque castle, so that I could have easy (and free access). Oh, and there would be no lines with grumpy people at the front complaining about fabric thickness. Happy days.
Personally, I’m going to try the constellation art with fairy lights in image 22 next. Preeeeeetty.
And because we love being helpful, why don’t you also check out these posts:
- How to sort out and store your jewellery. If you have tangled necklaces sitting in a drawer all mixed up with your bracelets and rings – this one is for you.
- Turn a $2 spice rack into bookshelves. Possibly the best ever DIY. Ever.
- How to make your Facebook cover photo look pretty. Everyone will think you are some kind of graphic designer genius person.

People love the row of vintage posters I have in frames on my lounge room wall – how I did it. It was a calendar! I just cut up each page and framed them in matching frames from the $2 shop.
Calendars are great because they have themes so the pictures go together, plus if you wait till mid-late January you can buy them for next to nothing. I think all told my 10 pictures costs a total of $50 including frames.

Love it. I want to make them all. Need to quit my job …

Nat – I want to be your Martha Stewart housemate!! I swear I used to watch her show purely for the craft only – she drove me nuts :p
I often cover those inexpensive craft shop canvasses with delicious fabric. And I recently did a client’s bedroom with spray painted vintage frames filled with their feature wall’s wallpaper.
Love the feeling of creating something yourself. And if glitter and a glue gun is involved – how can it be wrong?!

Can I make a suggestion for anyone attempting the crayon canvas… hot glue the crayons to the canvas and then use a hairdryer to melt them. Believe me, your glue gun will not be the same if you melt crayons through it! It’s much easier to wipe off some stray crayon off the hairdryer. If you don’t want to have the crayons glued on permanently, you could use a spot of glue to hold them there, and then remove them afterwards…. the white area where the crayons were – flip your canvas over so that becomes the bottom. I made these with my nieces and they turned out great.I’ll try to post a picture.

I love the canvas on whinge idea. We could put some over our keypads for our a/c.
I have an old picture I’m going to tidy up, I just need some clear varnish to stop the chipboard flaking at the back.

I painted the hall bright blue. Then I got lots of brightly coloured paper and stuck photographs of all sorts of family memories, tickets to events, certificates of achievement and childhood pictures of my husband and I to it, laminated them and have stuck them to the wall, floor to ceiling. Basically anything that I would normally collect and stick in a drawer and forget about has found itself on display.
It is freaking awesome, even if I do say so myself.

Ooooh I love this! I’m very bad at DIY but I love the thought of it being done well. I adore the magnetic scrabble board (MUST. HAVE.) and the wooden spraypainted letters. And the collection of tiny mirrors. And the wipe-off menu board. And the constellation art. But knowing me, I’d superglue my head to my forehead and/or burn the house down.

Hi there loving your posts.
How do I make the constellation board, and where can I buy the 3 fabrics you used for the wall art on styrofoam ( both Monday 1/10/12) ?
