'Shots fired' at police during St Albans drug raid.

Police are negotiating with occupants of a house in Melbourne’s west after shots were fired at officers during a drug raid, police say.

They arrived at the home on Levenia St, St Albans, about 6:00am to execute a drug warrant.

Police said a handgun was fired a number of times. No-one was injured.

The area has been cordoned off and police are now attempting to negotiate with those inside.

Special police are on the scene wearing protective clothing.

An armoured truck was used to pull down the metal front fence as a helicopter hovered overhead.

The truck drove into the property and officers with weapons were standing behind it, using it as a barrier.
