Sam and Phoebe Burgess have welcomed a baby girl into the world.

Rugby league star Sam Burgess and wife Phoebe have welcomed a baby girl to the world.

Announcing the news on Instagram, 28-year-old Sam posted an image of the new family together, writing that their baby daughter, Poppy Alice Burgess, arrived on Tuesday.

“My two girls doing extremely well,” he wrote. “My everything.”

The couple revealed they were expecting a baby back in July last year, just months after tying the knot in December 2015. Their wedding, which made headlines because of Pheobe’s Pinterest-worthy Alex Perry wedding dress, took place at her parents’ farm in Bowral, New South Wales, with everyone from Russell Crowe to Greg Inglis attending.

Through their sizeable social media following, the couple have been remarkably open about their lives and the pregnancy, with the former magazine writer and TV presenter writing for Harpers Bazaar’s Morning Glory section about all the ways pregnancy impacted her day-to-day routine.

Of note was the way her skin seemed to be at the mercy of her pregnancy hormones.

“My skin routine has changed quite a bit since falling pregnant as, thanks to my little baby building hormones, it’s different each day and that first glance in the mirror is always a surprise,” she wrote at the time.

“I can wake up with the best skin I’ve ever had – soft, smooth and bright – or I can wake up with red spots around my jawline and irritated cheeks, which makes me want to wear my sunnies and baseball cap.”

It’s the first child for both Sam and Phoebe.
