Mothers, we warn you: This is a little bit scary.

A 12-year-old girl in Boulder County, Colorado, has been locked up in a juvenile detention centre for attempting to murder her mother. Twice.

Why? Because her mother confiscated her iPhone.

The local police reported that the first attempt occurred on March 2. The mother was drinking a breakfast smoothie when she noticed a strange odour. At first, she thought that her daughter had failed to rinse the glass properly.

But four days later, that same strange odour was detected when the mother drank from the water jug beside her bed – and this time, it was discovered that the daughter had poured bleach into it.

“This is when she learned her daughter had developed the plan to kill her for taking away her iPhone,” the Sheriff’s office stated.

The police were contacted when the mother was admitted to the local hospital. It seems that the mother has recovered, but the daughter has been charged with two counts of attempted first degree murder, and it is yet to be determined whether the district attorney will try her as an adult or a juvenile.
