Hero, Shocker and Whinger of the Week.

Welcome to Hero, Shocker and Whinger of the Week!

This week, we realised that the entire superinfo highway was focused on one particular multimillion-dollar evil corporation: Disney. So, we decided to give out our awards exclusively to the stories related to the House of Mouse that have made us cheer, gasp and roll our eyes this week.

Let’s get started:

Hero(es) of the Week:

The awesome women behind this Disney Princess rap battle.

Actress Whitney Avalon posted this video to her YouTube channel this week. It features Snow White (feat. Aurora and Cinderella) facing off against Queen Elsa (with her homegirls Tiana and Nerida).

(Warning: a wee bit of language towards the end that makes it inappropriate for the kiddies.)

Shocker of the Week:

You have until October 5 to get your arse over to Disneyland and go on the Maelstrom ride.

So, Disneyland is capitalising on Frozen hysteria and building a themed ride. Fair.

But, they are building it to replace the Maelstrom ride (that fun Viking boat ride in EPCOT) and a lot of people do not think that is a fair trade:

Maelstrom closes on October 5. Get on that, mates.

Whinger of the Week:

The woman who thinks that Disney’s Frozen is just a cheap knock off of her life.

Latin-American author Isabella Tanikumi is suing Disney for $US250 million over claims that their Academy Award-winning hit Frozen is but a ‘Gacci’ bag on a Bangkok shopping strip when compared to her 2010 novel, Yearnings of the Heart.

I.e. she thinks Disney stole her story.

Here’s a synopsis of her book via Amazon:

This is the compelling, introspective account of the life of Isabella Tanikumi, who takes her readers on a journey through various phases of her remarkable life – from her family’s survival during the devastating earthquake of 1970 in Huaraz, Peru, to the trials of overcoming heartbreaks of her youth.

Conquering personal insecurities led to exploring the reaches of intellect while facing the tragic, and untimely death of her beloved sister, Laura.

Gee, that does sound a lot like Frozen.

Except for the earthquake bit.

And the South American bit.

And the dead sister bit.

… which lawyer decided suing Disney for $US250 million over this would be a good idea?
