Rihanna on Chris Brown: The world can't see what I see

It's certainly looking these days like Rihanna and Chris Brown are back together. And while neither of them have confirmed the relationship publicly, Rihanna has some revealing things to say about Brown in her new cover story for Vogue

"To the world, I feel like there’s no closure," she says of her controversial romance, which ostensibly ended after Brown brutally assaulted her in 2009. "There’s some obsession that’s continued even throughout when we weren’t friends or couldn’t be friends at all. Hated each other. The world hasn’t let go. They haven’t seen any progress in our friendship, because they don’t see anything, really, besides the song."

The song she's referring to is their sexy 2012 remake of "Birthday Cake" — the first overt sign that she and Brown were friends again, restraining order and all. Rihanna says that the collaboration was her idea, and she admits that she wanted it to be "a little shocking." But she still doesn't entirely understand why the world is so obsessed with their status.

"Now it’s a bit of a fascination, I guess," she tells Vogue. "I don’t know if people will stop soon, but I feel like as soon as they have closure to it, they will."

If she thinks that getting back together with her abusive ex will get people to stop talking, then she's got a funny idea of "closure." But Rihanna says that the public will never know her and Chris' whole story.

"They’re not on the inside. They can’t see what I see, unless they’re sitting in my point of view," she says. "I guess I’ll learn to accept that."

Elsewhere in the interview, which took place in September, Rihanna declares that she hasn't been on a date in two years. "Haven’t gone to the movies, to dinner. Zero," she claims. "I would love to go on a date. I’m a woman. A young woman, vibrant, and I love to have fun.. Seriously, all I want is a guy to take me out and make me laugh for a good hour and take my ass back home. He doesn’t even have to come up. All I want is a conversation for an hour." So why no love for Rihanna? The superstar claims that no one ever asks her out. "I'm waiting for the man who's ballsy enough to deal with me," she says.

Is Chris Brown the manshe's been waiting for, or just a part of her past that she can't let go? We may all find out soon enough. A widely circulated report from HollywoodLife.com claims that Chris and Rihanna are planning to go public as a couple, as soon as her new album drops in November. "She's hitting the studio real hard these days, but [talks] to Chris every step of the way," a source tells the website. "As soon as she finishes up with this album, they will be out. She gotta focus and get that album together and stay paid."

The title of that upcoming album? Unapologetic.
