'The moment I knew my partner wasn't "the one".'

Relationships and they way they end can be a fickle thing.

From “it’s not you, it’s me,” to “I just don’t deserve someone as incredible as you,” there are some pretty tried and true breakup stories we’ve heard before. But just when you think you’ve heard them all, Reddit comes along.

Creating a thread titledWhat did a SO do that made you stop and realise “They’re NOT the one”? on Thursday, Redditors shared their best and worst breakup moments, with some being more off-the-wall than others.

"She had a threesome...whilst I was attending my uncle's funeral," one user wrote, adding, "Yes we were dating at the time."

Well, that's just really quite awful.

"Forgot to mute his microphone in a Skype call," another comment began. "I heard him yelling at his Mum because she'd cooked food too early, and basically acting like a petulant child. He was in his 30s. I'd heard him being snippy and short with her before, but that definitely made it obvious it was worse than I'd been allowed to see."

Yeah, we're pretty sure you just avoided a lifelong sentence of being chained to the stove and cooking said boyfriend's meat loaf just right.

Another commenter shared, "When he started treating our toddler the same way he treated me. When he treated me badly, I rationalised it away as being all my fault, but nothing could convince me a baby deserved to be treated like that. And once I had that realisation, I realised that I'd never deserved it either."

Now there is one relationship we're happy to hear ended.

"When my dad gave me the "I don't think she's good enough for you" talk for about the fifth time. After that I sat and thought about what he had said and tried to imagine her and I in the future, and just knew I wouldn't be happy," another Redditor said. Naturally, his dad received high praise from other commenters, with many pointing out that broaching such a fraught subject possibly saved his son some serious heartache later down the track.

Perhaps the best admission, though, came from one woman who not only revealed her ex-boyfriend was beyond petulant, but also named and shamed him.

"He screamed at me over the phone because I was driving a teenage boy and three girls in my car from church to a restaurant, he didn't like the fact I had a teen boy in my car.. I needed time and told him so. He sent me a dozen red roses a day later and texted me "roses were $90,"" she wrote, adding, "Justin, if you read this and it seems oddly familiar, it's because it is. F**k you, you f**king f**k."

Ah to be in love. There's really nothing like it.
