Rachael Finch finally responds to her controversial "child-free" weekend comments.

The 28-year-old has been heavily criticised for her unconventional parenting style, ever since she revealed that her two-year-old daughter spends most weekends with her husband’s mother.

“Every weekend (Violet) goes to Mish’s mum’s house, and we get our weekend to ourselves. I think that’s incredibly healthy for the relationship. And on Sunday, when we pick her up, we have 100 per cent energy back,” Finch told Sunday Style magazine.

At the time, Finch received widespread criticism, with many labelling her as lazy and selfish.

The shaming didn’t stop when Rachael revealed she was pregnant with baby number two last week. Alongside messages of congratulations for the happy couple – who met while working together on Dancing With The Stars – others were less than impressed the pair was adding to their family.

“Did Grandma agree to this, considering she will be the one raising the children?” asked a commenter on The Daily Mail.

Others said Finch and Michael Miziner were “parents in name only” and that they would miss out on the growth and development of yet another baby.

Now, Rachael has responded to the fresh criticism to her happy announcement, telling The Daily Mail she finds the comments “hilarious”.

Saying her original comments about dropping Violet off with family members were taken “out of context”, Rachael clarified they “drop her off whenever we need help”.

What life is about – bear hugs and cheeky grins. Nana turned 91 today and Violet is on her way to turning 3. ????????????????

“It’s just whenever she wants to spend time with her Grandma or when Grandma wants to spend time with her. So it will be a Saturday here and there. Some things get amplified and exaggerated.”

Taking the complaints with a grain of salt, Rachael and Michael know that public backlash is “a part of what we do.

“We understand that everyone has an opinion,” they said.
