A 'thank you' letter to Qantas staff for going above and beyond to help my sick toddler.

A Perth mum has penned an emotional thank you letter to Qantas after her toddler fell ill while travelling on one of their flights.

Travelling from Sydney to Perth with two of her sons, ‎Elise Doohan‎ wrote on Facebook that it was only an hour into the flight when her youngest child fell ill and had a convulsion on board.

“He went floppy, he vomited and his eyes rolled into the back of his head. He wasn’t responding and had turned completely white! I was panicking. I stood up to try get the attention of an air hostess, and I already had one running towards me.”

Doohan wrote that she was utterly flawed by the quick thinking nature of the air hostesses on board and their total devotion to ensuring the child was healthy and the family comfortable.

“She grabbed my baby without hesitation, who was covered in vomit, and ran him towards the back of the plane while I followed. I was in tears and really distressed, as my son still wasn’t responding. Your lovely air hostess hugged me, assured me they had a team of mothers as staff and they were going to take care of us.”

After a call out was made for any medically trained professionals on board, both a paramedic and a doctor came forward and to the aid of the young mum, while her son was put on oxygen.

“These two men gave up the comfort of their own seats and sat with us for practically the entire flight. When they could have been relaxing, watching a movie – they were asking around for medical supplies, constantly checking my son’s vitals and liaising with the staff on caring for my son.

"Another staff member went and sat with my 3-yr old, and then moved him closer to us. Your beautiful staff kept him so calm and entertained. There were air hostesses going up and down the aisles with stickers all over them, they were constantly fetching snacks, helping him to put movies on, took him to the toilet and took him for walks up the plane - so I could concentrate on holding my little one and trying to get him stable."

Ultimately, Doohan wrote that thankfully, her son recovered from the incident and is totally healthy today. Now the the ordeal has passed and her son's health restored, Doohan wanted to make known how grateful she was to have such "angels" with her on the flight that day.

"Your staff went completely above and beyond in every single aspect. They completely took control of the situation and I felt so safe knowing they were doing everything they could to look after us.

"These women did far more than just their jobs that day. Every single one of them went out of their way to make us as comfortable as possible and to reassure me that my son was going to be fine. They were absolutely incredible.

"Thank you Qantas for hiring such absolute angels. I will always remember that flight and how beautiful humans can be."
