What Patrick Dangerfield will do if his wife goes into labour while he's playing footy.

If AFL Geelong star Patrick Dangerfield’s wife goes into labour while he’s playing footy, he’ll be staying put.

In a new YouTube video with his partner Mardi, a trained occupational therapist, the 27-year-old said he would finish the game before rushing to meet his first child.

“Well if Mardi was to go into labour during a game, I wouldn’t leave it — I would finish the game off,” Patrick said in the video titled ‘Daddy Danger – Baby vs Teammates’.

“(You’ve) committed to it at the start, that’s the decision that you make.”

Forget the big issues, it’s baby issues.

He quipped: “Apparently the first child’s labour is like 12 to 14 hours so really, I might have dinner after the game as well.”

It’s a decision Mardi supports wholeheartedly, joking: “If there’s another hour-and-a-half (or) another hour of game time to be played, then you can probably finish your game and then hit the highway.”

The 30-second clip is just the latest instalment in a series produced by athlete publishing company Unscriptd, which shows the ins and outs of the couple’s life behind doors.

Baby Dangerfield is due any day now, with Mardi telling her 21,000 Instagram followers during the week that, “I’m down to the last 4 things in my wardrobe that fit.”

For everyone’s sake, let’s hope the little one arrives AFTER the footy game finishes.

Would you support your partner finishing his job before coming to the birth of your baby?
