It's true, people without kids don't know. I have never met or heard of anyone having kids and saying "yup, this is exactly what I thought it would be like". I understand the resentment towards such comments...I used to feel the same way. Then I had a child and sure enough, as all the parents told me, I realized how wrong I was.
I don't care what people think they know, or how many families they have been around, or how many relatives they have with kids. The article title is on the mark. You. Just. Don't. Get. It.

Just reading the discussion in the comments has me flabbergasted. I look at me before children and me now. I have been through tough, stressful stuff before and during being a parent and all of those experiences were/are valid. The guy in the video is making the comment that he's laughing at himself before children more than anything. We all do this. Right now I'm sick and caring for my sick toddler and laughing at the old me who would call in sick from work and lie on the couch all day until I felt better, taking any medications - even the drowsy ones - I needed. I don't devalue anyone else who doesn't have children. I envy them sometimes! There are people everywhere living all sorts of different challenges and I do not understand why this forum has become a big old competition between parents and non parents. Each person's life story is valid and real for them. I don't know what it's like to be someone else, no matter how much i empathise or try to put myself in their shoes, just like no-one truly knows what it's like to be me. You can't measure someone's pain or tiredness vs someone else in similar situations. For goodness sakes!
