In less than a week, you'll be able to stream every Aussie movie ever made.

“Tell him he’s dreamin’.”

You’re not dreamin’, Aussie film lovers.

A new on-demand streaming service called Ozflix is launching on Australia Day , Thursday January 26 at 6pm.

And bloody oath it’s going to be brilliant.

Their plan is to launch with 250 films on-demand and build from there.

According to CEO Ron V. Brown the company’s plans are ambitious.

“We are committed to making each and every Australian feature film available,” he said, according to Mumbrella.

That’s everything from Muriel’s Wedding to Crocodile Dundee; Red Dog to Rabbit Proof Fence; The Castle to Gallipoli; and Wolf Creek to Wolf Creek 2.

The on-demand service will offer new releases as well as true blue Aussie classics.

How does it work?

The business model takes a pay-per-view format: $6.79 to stream a new release and $3.79 for any other film. So yes, to answer your first (and most pressing) question, it is more expensive than other streaming services.

But there a great reason why.

Half of every rental fee goes directly to distributors and filmmakers which, given the entire process is contained within Australia, does wonders for the Aussie film industry.

It’s also a completely unique business model within the on-demand streaming market, one that benefits the industry as well as the company.
