Some lucky Mamamia readers have been trialling the new Dove Nutri-Oil Serum.
The Serum is part of the new Dove Nourishing Oil Care Range, formulated with weightless nutri-oils to smooth away roughness and frizz, giving women everywhere beautiful, finger-runnable hair.
According to Dove:
For centuries, oils have been revered for their ability to help nourish, moisturise, repair and smooth hair. Today, oils are a hot beauty trend as women once again realise and appreciate their power. However, some traditional oil infused products can leave hair limp and greasy and many salon treatments are expensive and hard to find.
After a decade of research and development, Dove is expecting its new Nutritive Therapy Nourishing Oil Care Range to transform the way women feel about their hair. The hero product, Nourishing Oil Care: Nutri Oil Serum, is anticipated to achieve cult status once it hits supermarket shelves. The new wonder serum reduces roughness and frizz by 99% and is scientifically proven to leave your hair as smooth and shiny as the latest ‘wow’ product Moroccan Oil Treatment, yet is just a fraction of the price.
In Australia 23% of women suffer from dry or damaged hair*, most often caused by aggressive climatic factors, chemicals and the daily styling torture of blow-drying and straightening. Formulated with both Coconut and Sweet Almond Oil, Dove Nutritive Therapy Nourishing Oil Care: Nutri Oil Serum has been tested to reduce 99% of roughness and frizz, turning a dry and unmanageable mane into soft and silky, finger-runnable hair. Absorbing from the moment it is applied, the hair shaft is deeply nourished with no greasy residue.
The readers who have been trialling the Dove Nutri-Oil Serum are going to be telling us what they thought of it. You can join in too, even if you’re not part of the trial but have tried the product.

!! Its fine when i wash it but once its dried its a complete oily/sticky mess!!!!! HORRIBLE PRODUCT!!!!!!!!!! I want to shoot everyone at Dove!!
Now i have to go to work with a oily/sticky mess on my head!!!

i wasn’t an official tester but bought some to try it and LOVE it. i use it after i have dried my hair and it is really good at flattening down the frizziness and fly-aways. i recommend for people with fine hair to give your hair a good blow dried look without all the work. it also adds a great deal of shine.

I’ve continued using the Dove serum for a few weeks now and used it prior to blowdrying my hair (which I’m not good at at the best of times). It didn’t go too well, but that was probably down to my technique…..I tied it back and got on with my day. Surprised to say though, once I took my hair out that evening and continuing throughout the next day, my hair was lovely! Never have this result from blowdrying alone – always have to use a straightener. Very happy with the result – never happened with Moroccan oil!

I didn’t notice much change to my dry & frizzy hair only that it added a slight amount of shine.

I need a new serum! and I imagine this one smells delicious being Dove. I use serums to add a nice smell to my hair when it gets that wake up from sleep smell.. does anyone else get that?! besides that I have very thick and healthy hair and have never felt the need or like to use hair products

Overall, I think the best features of the Nutri Oil is the shine that is put into your hair with out feeling or looking greasy and it definitely left my hair feeling softer.

The best thing about this product is how soft my hair feels after using it and it’s not greasy.

II really like the pump system so I am not using more than I need.

I have been surprised by this product. It smells great, doesn’t weigh down my hair nor leave it oily. I also like the pump system so I am not using more than I need.

Overall, the best thing about this product is the shine it gave my hair without it looking and feeling greasy. When I combined it with my usual heavy stylign cream, the result was really wonderful. I will buy this product agian.

nice name Vanessa Lee! sounds good together

The best thing I found was it being very light and my very curly hair felt unclogged after applying a good amount and did keep the frizz down slightly.

I have recently gone from very dark to blonde and i have been using the serum in the process. i have to say i am incredibly surprised that my hair has stayed in reasonable condition considering the regularity of processing, as well as the harshness. I really believe the serum has made a big difference going through this process. It is soft and not feeling dry and fragile.

I have incredibly dry and damaged hair from years of colouring, so my hair is always breaking and very fluffy. I did find that the serum makes my hair softer and very shiny but it is probably a bit too light for my hair as my hair sucks it straight in and I am having to stick to heavier products to get the results I need for my incredibly damaged hair.

I have dry hair and the serum definitely gave it more of a softness. I noticed a difference even after the first use and I’m hoping as I use it more that this will continue to improve the condition of my hair. It DOES make my hair feel weightless and I’m really surprised because I am always a bit of a skeptic when it comes to promises made by hair care products.I can honestly say that it has made a difference to my curly hair and I find it a lot softer, lighter and healthier.

My hair definitely looked and felt less dry. Sounds like combining a styling product with the serum may be the way to go to get styling control and the benefits to the serum.

My hair is extremely curly and frizzy, and I need to use a heavy styling cream to control the curls. When I tried the Dove serum I found it was too light for my hair. It did give it a beautiful shine, but my curls were not as defined as when I used my usual styling cream. When I did however mix the two products together I got a beautiful result – defined curls and lots of shine. Perfect!

As a person with curly, and therefore often frizzy hair, I am always skeptical at products promising they can tame my hair. I was, therefore pleasantly surprised at how amazing my hair felt after I tried the serum. It definitely felt lighter, softer and healthier and also looked it. I really liked the Nutri-Oil serum and would certainly buy it.

I have found the product never leaves residue or weighs down my hair but alternatively it also softens my hair a bit too much when i want to have hold for the curls so i have started mixing some in with my wax or gel and it works great. my hairdresser often uses two products like this so i thought why not!>

I have been using the serum now for 2 weeks and the product is weightless in my hair and it is definitely feeling softer, however I am now only using this product in dry hair to tame the fly aways and to give my hair some shine. My hair is really dry and damaged from years of colouring and I still need to use products like Morrocan oil to be able to comb my hair through when wet as the Dove Nutri Oil isn’t quite enough for my damaged hair.

I have quite long, naturally wavy hair. The most styling I do is to sleep on it wet and then tie in a ponytail for work! I’ve noticed though since using Dove Serum, my hair is alot smoother and shinier, without being greasy. I’ve been applying a little to the midlengh to ends every day and it certainly is less fluffy and flyaway!!

I noticed a difference the first time I used it after having used Moroccan Oil for quite some time. Hair was very smooth when straightened. I have noticed though that after 2 weeks of using Dove, it’s not as good a result as the first time and is still frizzy/fluffy after straightening. A good option if you can’t afford the MO or perhaps to alternate between the two.

There is definitely more softness to my hair so perhaps this could be described as ‘weightlessness’. My daughter is also using the Dove Nutri-Oil and it has improved the condition of her hair – she is a swimmer and her hair is subject to a lot of chlorine and straightening!

The Nutri-Oil did make my hair feel weightless but this did not help to control the curl and frizz. In fact, my hair was looking fluffy.

I’ve used the serum for two or so weeks now and my hair is getting softer each time I use it! Definately doesn’t feel lanky or oily (obviously use in moderation like you would any serum!) and still loving the smell

Not lucky enough to trial it but silly enough to buy it after reading reading sponsored post on Mamamia. It just made my naturally curly hair fluffy, frizzy & awful. Absolute rubbish!

Yes, certainly weightless, but still found frizzness

It was weightless but was not enough to promote the natural curl in my hair.

So far I am impressed with the Dove serum. It has made a suble improvement to my hair – it seems less frizzy and more manageable. Will definitely continue to use it and will hopefully see more improvement as the days go on.

I use Dove Nutri-Oil Serum the morning when I have washed my hair the night before. I have long hair and I excersie almost every day because of this my hair often is dry. Dove Nutri-Oil Serum is prefect for this problem I place it in the bottom half of my hair then brush it through and that is all, so easy and I don’t have to use my straightner.

my hair was so dry and frizzy and brittle it was breaking and falling out. i would wake up in the morning and my hair would be a dry, dull, knotted, untameable mess. i conditioned my hair sqweezed out the water with my hands and applied the nutri-oil serum and combed it through with a wide tooth comb and let it air dry, instantly fixed after one use, no frizz no knotts. i now get up in the morning and twist my curls with my fingers and thats it, done

Thanks to Mamamia for sending me this new oil to trial. I have to admit, I was sceptical at first. Not because I’ve not used oils on my hair before, the case is quite the opposite in fact; I’ve used many, mostly by salon/top shelf hair specific brands like Redken.
I’m pleased to report that I’ve been pleasantly surprised by this new Dove product and it’s effect on my strands. Just brilliant I say! I have thick, permanently dyed, quite short hair. I don’t like to wash my hair everyday and I’ve been using this oil/serum on the days after the wash. What effect has it had? Dove’s Nutri-Oil Serum has been brilliant in making my hair more shiny, soft and manageable. It’s also been useful as an *almost styling product in that it helps to smooth down the fluffy, sticky-uppy bits that happen from the way my head hits the pillow at night (other short haired ladies will know what I’m on about) which is nothing less than a godsend.

I have extremely dry and damaged hair from years of colouring and the oil definitely calmed my frizz and made my hair wonderfully shiny and it felt softer when I put it on dry, however I needed other products in my hair when I applied it to my hair wet to be able to comb through.

I have just done a DIY hair dye project on my hair… and it is shockingly brittle and dry! I did notice a change using the Dove serum on it-definitely much softer and less frizz (obviously it’s still a little dry, nothing could take away that kind of dryness so quickly!). Very happy with the amount of shine too, it doesn’t look oily and lanky, yay!

Serums have been a life changer for me with thick curly dry hair. I liked this because it didn’t leave any residue but did calm my hair and make it less frizzy. The difference was immediate once my hair dried (i put it in when my hair was wet. Like others though i also felt like i had to use quite a bit but the trade off is that it’s not heavy or greasy in my hair.

My hair felt softer after I used the Dove Nutri-Oil serum just after washing. Having curly hair, it wasn’t any more manageable and a styling/control product is still definitely needed. The oil did not feel greasy on my hair or on my hands.

I only noticed a slight difference – and felt I needed a good tsp full to make any difference. The instant difference was the shine it created, bought out the highlights well.

I have fairly short hair that is long suffering through colouring. I can’t say i noticed an instant difference, although the Dove Nutri-Oil serum is definitely a lot less ‘greasy’ than some other serums I’ve tried. After using it for a few days though i noticed my hair didn’t seem as fragile. I also had my teenage daughter use it as she is a swimmer and has long thick curly hair that dries out alot from chlorine and straightening. I must say it definitely made a difference to her hair, although not instantly. It seems more manageable.

I didn’t really feel an instant change to my hair when I used Dove Nutri-Oil serum. It felt nice on my hands and absorbed well into my hair and short term calmed it down a little but did not really “change” it in any way.
