Update:

A Florida woman’s claim to have had a third breast surgically added has been exposed as an elaborate scam.

Rumours the story was a hoax began circulating yesterday, including on website Snopes, but Florida’s 10 News conclusively outed 21-year-old Jasmine Tridevil (real name Alisha Hessler) after obtaining a luggage theft report filed at an airport.

In the report, Ms Hessler lists the contents of a bag stolen at the airport, which she said including a $5,000 “3 breast prosthesis”.

Hats off to all our readers who smelled something fishy about this story — and to Ms Hessler for excellent hoaxing.

Jasmine Tridevil  is a 21-year-old massage therapist living in Tampa, Florida.

That may all sound pretty ordinary — except Jasmine claims she has a surgically-added third breast, which she’s hoping will one day star in an MTV reality TV show called Jasmine’s Jugs.

“My main motivation is fame and fortune,” Jasmine (not her real name) says in a YouTube video, claiming she’s already self-produced pilot episodes of the show.

“My whole dream is to get this show on MTV,” she tells Florida station Real Radio 104.1. “I’m dumping every penny I have into this. If this doesn’t work, I’m through.”

Ms Tridevil claims she paid US$20,000 to have the hour-and-a-half surgery — and that her surgeon was so anxious about breaking ethical codes, he made her sign a confidentiality agreement.

“It was really hard finding someone that would do it, too, because they’re breaking the code of ethics,” Tridevil tells Real Radio. “I called like 50 or 60 doctors, nobody wanted to do it.”

“That’s why my surgeon made me sign a non-disclosure agreement… he’s afraid he could get in trouble because he broke the code of ethics,” she adds in a YouTube video, adding that she believes she’s the only person to have undergone the procedure.

Despite her reality TV aspirations, Jasmine claims she originally wanted the alleged surgery to turn off men.

“I got the surgery because I wanted to turn off guys. I know that sounds a little bit crazy but I decided that I never want to date again, never,” she says in a YouTube video.

“I like to wear provocative clothes, I like to wear makeup… so I thought, what would be a way to make myself unattractive but still feel pretty?”

Jasmine says she’s received mixed reactions to her surgery, and that her family has struggled to accept her choices.

“My dad… he really isn’t happy,” she says on the radio show. “He is kind of ashamed of me but he accepted it.”

“My mum said: ‘Why would you do that? It’s ugly. People are laughing because it looks so ridiculous. It’s obvious you would do anything for money. You have no boundaries and no morals at all,” she says in a YouTube video.

In another video entitled How to Get a Job, Jasmine doles out career advice to her younger fans.

“I’ve been working extremely hard since I was fifteen… I have a house, a car and a motorcycle,” she says.

“You can do anything you want to do… It’s all about the way you present yourself.”
