1. Person of interest in William Tyrell case has criminal record of more than 90 offences.

A paedophile who is a “person of interest” in the disappearance of William Tyrell has a criminal record of more than 90 ­offences across NSW.

News Limited reports that 59-year old Anthony Jones was jailed last week for an aggravated indecent assault on a minor. He has more than 90 offences in his criminal record including striking a child, attacking women, escaping police custody, and intimidated police.

It has been reported that Jones was a member of the Grandparents As Parents Again (GAPA) group. This group was believed to have had links to a paedophile ring operating on the mid-north coast.

His car, a white older model station wagon was impounded for forensic examination two weeks ago.

Detectives have been seeking information about a car that fit the same description seen in the street where William went missing.

2. Neighbour waited five hours for police to attend scene of domestic assault.

WA Today reports that the man, named only Jeff, heard his female neighbour being assaulted and called emergency services.

It took three phone calls and five hours until police arrived.

Jeff  said “On Sunday afternoon I heard a woman screaming and glass smashing, and someone being pushed around,”

He leaned over the fence and asked a question about what was going on.

“Everything went really quiet,” he said.

“I was concerned for the lady next door so I rang triple zero. I then waited around in the backyard for any movement or noise.”

He said he made eye contact with the woman and told her “everything would be OK”.

But it wasn’t.

Jeff says he had to ring triple zero three times and make further calls to the main police number, 131 444, before five hours later police arrived.

“I have spoken to a high-ranking police officer and unfortunately apparently what people do to get police to come quicker is they will say to police that someone has a knife or gun so they will get priority when in reality there is nothing like that happening.

“This woman could have paid the price for this kind of behaviour. “

He said he was disturbed that in order to get a quicker response he has been told he should have lied.

“The public have to not ring triple zero and make false claims because there are people like this who definitely need assistance.

“After five hours you don’t know… do I go over? Do I take it into my own hands? Do I risk a charge myself?

WA Police acting assistant commissioner Brad Sorrell told Radio 6PR it has been a busy policing day with officers attending five simultaneous domestic incidents, two robberies and a sudden death.

“This type of incident is not acceptable to us,” he said.

“It is something we take very very seriously.”

3. It’s a hoax folks. Just a hoax.

Did you wake up concerned this morning at your Facebook feed filled with statuses about privacy setting and changes to Facebook?

The status claims that by copying and pasting the short post in legalese about your privacy settings on Facebook, you will make the photos and videos you’ve posted private.

But it’s just a hoax – and not even a new one.

The main one contains what seems like complicated and official legal language telling us that if we don’t post it we will be allowing Facebook total control over those images of our kids and gourmet breakfasts we have dined on.

The post claims by posting it the privacy and confidentiality of the account will be protected.

A second post doing the rounds says that Facebook will charge for the cost of privacy.

Facebook has addressed the two hoax posts saying they are false.

“Anyone who uses Facebook owns and controls the content and information they post, as stated in our terms. They control how that content and information is shared. That is our policy, and it always has been.”

4. Teen accused of killing mum in hit and run with monkey bike was on good behaviour bond for driving offences.

The teenager accused of killing mother-of-two Andrea Lehane in a Melbourne shopping centre car park was on a good behaviour bond for driving offences at the time a court has heard.

18-year old Caleb Jakobsson allegedly hit Ms Lehane while riding a monkey bike, then left her for dead last Wednesday.

Her life support was switched off on Friday.

The court heard that Jakobsson was on a good behaviour bond for a string of charges including reckless conduct placing a person in danger of serious injury for another alleged motorcycle accident.

Police said that the teenager was driving 30km/h in a 10 km/h zone. Ms Lehane was thrown up to 7m when she was crossing at a pedestrian strip outside Carrum Downs shopping centre. Mr Jakobsson was also thrown from his bike, but police said he immediately got back on and rode away.

Mrs Lehane’s husband James has thanked those who turned up to a vigil for his wife on Monday night writing on Facebook:

“Sunday night was mind blowing, hopefully Andy had a good view from up there and I know she would have been happy to see everyone.”

“When these two little tackers grow up they’ll look at the evenings photos knowing their Mums life was not cut short unnoticed.”

5. Gerard Baden-Clay taken to hospital.

Gerard Baden-Clay, the real estate agent who killed his wife Allison in 2012 has been taken to hospital following an injury in jail.

The Courier Mail reports that Baden-Clay sustained a “sporting injury” in the prison exercise yard, believed to be relatively minor.

6. Warriena Wright “heavily intoxicated” the night she died.

A toxicology report has revealed that Warriena Wright was heavily intoxicated” the night she plunged to her death off the high-rise balcony on the Gold Coast of Gable Tostee.

The 26-year old died after a Tinder date with Gable Tostee on August 8 2014.

News Limited reports that toxicology reports show Wright had a blood alcohol reading of 0.156 at the time of her death.

Tostee, who changed his name by deed poll to Eric Thomas earlier this year, was charged with her murder after police allege his actions forced her to fear for her life so much so that he was responsible for her death.

Tostee will today face a court hearing in Brisbane.

7. Julie Bishop defends having partner seated next to her at the UN assembly.

David Panton was photographed last Friday sitting beside Ms Bishop as they watched the Pope’s address to world leaders in New York.

The opposition’s parliamentary secretary for foreign affairs, Matt Thistlethwaite, questioned why he was there.

“It’s up to the Foreign Minister to explain if this is appropriate. If there’s a legitimate reason for this, then it needs to be clarified,”

The Australian reports that a spokesperson for Ms Bishop addressed the concerns.

“Mr Panton made his own travel arrangements to New York.” he said.

“He is not part of any government program.

“The Foreign Minister has discretion as to who is invited to General Assembly sessions and has in the past invited constituents and friends to sit with her.”

8. Stockmarket hits two-year low.

There are hopes today for a less turbulent day on the markets after global stocks fell to their lowest level in more than two years yesterday.

By yesterday’s close, the benchmark ASX 200 index was down 3.8 per cent to 4,918 and the All Ordinaries was off 187 points to 4,958, below 5,000 for the first time since mid-2013.

Federal Treasurer Scott Morrison told Sky News the economy was performing “incredibly well”, despite the plunge in the Australian stock market.

“These are obviously difficult days and there’s lots of headwinds we already know that. ”

9. Lefties slam prejudice Iphone 6.

Left-handed Iphone users have come out in force complaining about how they are left struggling to use their devices.

A large band of lefties have taken to Twitter to slam Apple for not doing more to support its left-handed users. Some say the phones doesn’t have a mirroring tool, and others say the location of the dock in Landscape mode makes it impossible to use.

Mic reports that iOS 9 makes it tough for lefties to close images and navigating the new right-hand side dock on the iPad.

One complained :“Shouldn’t my iPhone have user settings for us left-handed people? #feelingleftout’.”

Another wrote:”If Taylor Swift were left-handed, would iPhone 6S dock be so hard to reach for lefties in landscape mode? I rest my case.”
