What a week! Fleeing politicians, weddings, babies and weird panda constumes. We’ve got it all.
There’s Delta Goodrem‘s Vogue cover and the first pic of Jessica Simpson’s baby girl. If music’s your thing, check out the pics of Beyonce’s “comeback” concert (and who was in the audience), if politics gets you talking there’s the image of Tony Abbott running out of parliament, and if you like David Beckham pic #11 is for you.
Also watch out for the best frocks from the Glamour Women of the Year red carpet and all the celebs in France for the final days of the Cannes Film Festival.

Chrissie Swan covered The Australian Women's Weekly.

Discovery of Lithium
Dr. Doug Stewart
Lithium was discovered by Johan Arfvedson in 1817, during an enquiry of petalite
(LiAlSi4O10).
He create the petalite contained “silica, alumina and an alkali.” (1)
The recent alkali metal in the petalite had peerless properties.
It required more acid to undo it than sodium and its carbonate was only sparingly soluble in o – unalike sodium carbonate.
The changed alkali differed from potassium because it did not recite a hasty with tartaric acid.
Arfvedson tried to beget a sterling swatch of the recent metal close to electrolysis, but he was unfruitful; the battery he occupied was not energetic enough. (2)
The sanitary metal was secret the following year nearby both William Brande and Humphry Davy working independently.
Davy obtained a short volume of lithium metal by electrolysis of lithium carbonate. (3)
He noted the modish ingredient had a red heartthrob color somewhat like strontium and produced an alkali d俷ouement when dissolved in water.
In days less safety-conscious than the show, Brande said of lithium, “its fluid tastes acrid like the other persistent alkalies.” (4)
By 1855 Robert Bunsen and Augustus Matthiessen were independently producing the metal in hefty quantities by electrolysis of molten lithium chloride.
Lithium’s name is derived from the Greek word ‘lithos’ meaning, ‘stone.’

please use more recent pictures of celebrities, justin bieber hasn’t looked like that for about 3 years.

If you’re gonna call the gallery “Week in Frocks” then please tell us who the frocks are designed by; every other website on the planet seems to be able to do this – why not Mamamia? Otherwise, just call it “Pictures of Famous People”.

Keith’s undies. Shot of the year.
There’s something I don’t understand and maybe some of you can explain this to me as I am not gay (but have MANY gay friends and 110% their right to marry!).
Why do lesbian couples tend to have one “feminine” dressing partner and one “masculine” dressing partner. I’m looking at the photo of Cynthia Nixon and her new wife and I don’t understand why often, one woman takes on a masculine look. Christine is dressed like a groom.
Isn’t the point that you’re both women? Why try to look like a traditional, hetero wedding photo??
This is NOT judgment – they can wear whatever they want! – it’s just something I have never really understood. Many lesbian couples are like that and I kind of think it’s sad, almost like it’s a way to fit into “mainstream” society when they’re also working hard to be accepted for who they are and not their sexuality.
Ellen and Portia are the same although I do think Ellen softens her look a bit. I dunno, I just reckon be a woman, be proud to be a woman and be a lesbian and wear the biggest princess dress you can find (just to stick it up the prudes!)

I agree with your observations. I often wondered about that as well. Although having worked with lesbians, there are some that are very masculine looking and some are not in that you wouldn’t know they were lesbians unless they told you.
loading...
I hope you get an answer because I’ve always wondered this too. Not that I’ve seen many wedding photos for gay men, but I don’t recall seeing any where one of the men wears a dress. I’ve always wondered why often with two girls marrying one of them wears a suit.

Deltra is freaking me out, maybe she is reading too much 50 shades of grey
lol!!!

Those faux posters of Tony Abbott are hilarious!!
loading...
I disagree. When Plibersek isn’t busy terrifying the elderly on the Central Coast with the climate hoax, she’s screeching about people being hateful to Gillard because she’s a woman. Tanya and her Emily’s Listers are relentless in their hatred of Tony Abbott, a Rhodes Scholar, a volunteer lifesaver and fireman, and Aboriginal activist and community worker, a father of three educated, strong daughters, a husband, a charity worker and fund raiser.
He is everything the useless ALP hate.
The coverage of his fleeing Parliament to the tune of ‘Run Rabbit’ makes the media look like idiots. When Gillard waddles out every other day, to avoid answering questions, they don’t broadcast it to the tune of ‘Fat Bottom Girls,’ do they?

Oh Anon. You are too funny!
Too. Funny.

That is one of the ugliest Vogue covers I’ve ever seen. Is that really the best image they could produce???
loading...
gosh – I really don’t like that bondage pic of delta on cover of vogue. Creepy and not in artistic way! ugh.

Also, thats a shocking shot of Beyonce….she needs to trim up her lady garden…!!??
Made me giggle..!!

Melissa George, Jessie J and Kelly Rowland – love the frocks.
Diane Kruger? Love the risk, don’t love the print, though.
And I really want a panda suit.

I was disappointed to see photos of Arta Dobroshi’s naked butt. I have no idea who she is, but I know I wouldn’t want a “wardrobe malfunction” like this beamed around the world.

I know this is off topic but would love to have some opinions from people..
Hi There!
I am just needing some advice/ wanting some thoughts on a blog I would like to do. I am on University holidays and am giving my self a 30 day health challenge and would love to have a blog to chat about ups/downs thoughts and just random ideas and knowledge I have. I am currently doing my Masters and have an Undergrad Bachelor of Psychology.
My question is.. How do you know when to have a blog? Would it a bad idea to do it incase people google me in the future? Should I just do an anonymous blog? Pro’s and Cons? I would love to run an area for people to talk about health/ nutrition/ exercise/ psychology/ life but am unsure whether this is a bad idea in the way of future development.

Carly Finlay wrote some great tips for new bloggers this week here: http://carlyfindlay.blogspot.com.au/2012/05/six-tips-for-new-bloggers.html
My thoughts are that it sounds like you are really keen and have the motivation which is the most important starting point. We all get to points where our motivation drops with our blogs, so you need a real drive to keep them going.
Re: going anon and future career issues, my advice to everyone is that everything you write on the internet can come back to bite you. Even if you write anon it is traceable, so I’m very upfront. I’m very identifiable from my blog and I’m open about it with employers etc. My friends and family read it. So even if you don’t write it under your own name, write it as if it is.
My biggest concern for you would be the topic you want to write about. You could end up providing health advice and that can be tricky. I suggest you find some similar blogs and look at any disclaimers they have and how they write. That might help.
I suggest you start by just writing about you and your 30 day health challenge and follow a few blogs like Oh She Glows and go from there. Good luck!

why oh why does kate dress like a 65 year old in 1986? bitch, you ain’t queen (yet), so bust out something with a bit more oomph whydoncha?
loading...
Seriously? This is a new role for her and she’s going to take a while to be comfortable with it. Diana was the same. She is required to be elegant, and maybe it’s just who she is anyway regardless of her role.
loading...
not saying she should use channel Lil’ Kim, but something less orthopaedic-looking.
loading...
“like a 65 year old in 1986″
This. Where the hell did she even get that dress? Do the royal family have a secret time machine, and if so why is Kate using it to raid the reject pile in the Golden Girls wardrobe department?
I really don’t understand why people make a fuss over Kate’s style. Though I never understood it with Diana either. Classic doesn’t mean boring, and classic is never ill-fitting.
loading...
I LOVE her look…Looks a lot better than many other celebs out there. If I see one more unflattering skinny jeaned, ankle booted, long-at-back-short-at-front loose top that makes everyone look the same I think I’ll scream. Love dresses – more people should wear them!
loading...
I couldn’t agree with you more Amy, she is elegant and has classic style. Something that is sadly lacking from society today.
She looked very approriate for the type of function in the dress.
Check out this link, its her second appearance in the dress, each perfect. http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/style/kate-middleton-recycles-garden-party-852968

“reject pile in the Golden Girls wardrobe department”
nearly wet my pants…maybe if I was wearing Depends undergarments like Kate, this wouldn’t be a problem.
loading...
Thank you for saying what I was thinking! This netball skirt/old bitties frock does not impress me and the shoes are not a good match.
She has a hot bod and a budget most people would kill for LASH OUT BABY!
loading...
“bitch, you ain’t queen” – that seems a bit uncool
loading...
did you see her in red Alexander McQueen last night in the Jubilee boat thing? HOT. Gorgeous. Want.
And yeah, she is still finding her way, she is required to dress a certain way and I reckon she’s great.
loading...
How good is Reese Witherspoon looking!
And absolutely love how the Duchess of Cambridge has brought back dressing like a lady.
loading...
What’s with the bondage-chic and Delta Goodrem?
loading...
Yeah, she looks like she’s being strangled.
loading...
what is the point of running a series of pics of models & actresses without makeup & then photoshopping them? Decisions like this may be one of the reasons women are turning away from conventional magazines. Why not let them wear a little makeup but not photoshop?
loading...
Wow, Tori Spelling looks so fit after two children and another on the way – wish i looked that good!!
Sad to hear about Kieran Perkins’ marriage ending, regardless of it being amicable. Sad about Grant Hackett’s marriage too.
Katherine and Camilla have such happy faces in that photo.
loading...
It’s her 4th! She already had 3 kids – makes it even more enviable!
loading...
Where is Tori??
loading...
Yes – I can’t see Tori either
loading...
Keith Urban is just gorgeous.
Tori Spelling is a perfect example of why plastic surgery isn’t always a good idea. The womans face is all mashed up.
The photo of Sophie Dahl is way over the top for an advert, I can’t believe anyone ever thought it would be a good idea. Wasn’t it around about the time that she lost of whole load of weight?
Baby panda – squeee!!!!
loading...
The Sophie Dahl ad was brilliant. It was a hugely successful campaign and is an iconic image. And no, it was taken after she’d lost some of her puppy fat, but before her weight plummeted due to illness.
loading...
It might well be an iconic image but I fail to see how a stark naked reclining woman has anything to do with perfume. She’s got her mouth open in faux ecstasy/arousal.
I can see why people complained about it. I can see why people liked it.
loading...
Well that’s advertising. If they stuck with what with strictly related to the perfume, every perfume ad (and car ad and food ad and so on) would just be a picture of the product against a white background. Boring. Opium has always been all about sex, and the ad was like the scent and all it’s connotations come to life.
loading...
Perfume ads have always been about skin, that’s nothing new, and while I am sick of seeing naked women used to sell everything, I have to say that this ad is absolutely brilliant. I love it.
loading...
not to mention that ad is about 0 years old and people are still talking about it. Successful ad campaign? TICK.
loading...
David Beckham is smokin hot, Kristen Stewart looks like she’d rather be anywhere but there, and, maybe it’s just me, but there’s nearly always something about Nicole Kidman’s look that misses the mark for me….
loading...
Kristen Stewart always looks like she’d rather be anywhere but there!
Maybe she’s trying to make that look her own ‘Blue Steel’…
loading...
I think it’s because she got ‘booed’ for not signing autographs. Although apparently that’s the proper ettiquette when you attend the premier of some else’s movie…. (she’s at the premier of her bf’s movie)
loading...
What is wrong with Kristen Stewart, she always looks so miserable. How hard can it be to be to smile and sign a few autographs as part of your billion dollar paying job. I’m sure there are a million people who would kill to be in her position and if she hates it so much, there so many other things she could be doing that don’t require having your photo taken.
loading...
Did you see her on the Graham NOrton show last Sat night – it was TERRIBLE…she could barely speak, or wouldnt engage, its a CHAT SHOW SWEETIE ….your role is to CHAT!!
She so obviously hates the whole public face side of acting, but hey, jees, you really need to get over it and stop looking to PAINFULLY MISERABLE ALL THE TIME!
loading...
I love the pics of the week but I really wish we could read the captions on the mobile site. I thought this would be fixed when the mobile site returned but the second pic still jumps and the title of the pic is still one behind. And we don’t get any description with the picture like what is shown on the desk top site.
Maybe it’s just me who can’t view them properly
loading...
That’s exactly what happens to me too when I try to look at gallery pics on my iphone, very frustrating to say the least…
loading...
Me too- & since Mamamia is my little indulgence on the train, it is so annoying!
Watching a bit of Tori & Dean’s shows- they are such likeable people. Considering her upbringing, it is surprising. Love this photo- wish I could rock a swimsuit like that after 3 bubbas. Also- is Reese Witherspoon officially pregnant? She sure looks it in this photo!
loading...
Yep me too. A bit disappointed that it’s still exactly the same after its been upgraded
loading...
We’re not done upgrading it yet, but it comes on and offline as we test various bugs
loading...
Cant read captions on my phone either
loading...
Me too
loading...
Me too. I thought that was just my phone and have been meaning to say something forever. Please fix. It’s really annoying as I am always on my phone and rarely use the desktop!
loading...
Love Julia Morris, would love to see her contribute to this site in some way…
Fearne Cottons hair is fabulous !!
loading...
I have such a girl crush on Tori Spelling and this pic just makes it just that little bit stronger!
