This is the Prince Harry interview that everyone is talking about today. It’s actually a series of interviews filmed at the Prince’s base camp in Helmand at the end of the 28-year-old’s four-month stint flying Army helicopters in Afghanistan.
In them, the Prince admits killing Taliban insurgents. He talks about his distrust of the media. He describes why he feels more comfortable as ‘Captain Wales’ then he does as Prince Harry. And he reveals why Prince William is jealous of him.

Did anyone see the most recent interview with Harry at the airport when he returned today ?
The smart-arse interviewer asked him if there was anyone in his “family-tree” who he identified with – implying that his “ancestor in the military” was actually James Hewitt, the man who was Diana’s boyfriend………
Harry should have given that reporter a poke in the nose for that one.
I have no doubt who Harry’s grandfather is – his smile is the same as Prince Philip !
(Not that I care or anything )…..lol.

I think I have a little crush on Prince Harry……

First thought after seeing this: “F$&k I’d marry your ass, Harry”. The uncomfortable intake of breath and half grimace when speaking of his mother brought tears to my eyes. I find this guy much more interesting and sexy than the one who stands next to his family at royal functions. Shove the castles, 5 outfit changes for Xmas Day and ribbon cuttings though. Makes me understand more why Chelsy still kept being drawn back to him even though she was insistent she’d never marry him because of what being a royal meant. So sad that he both lost his girl and can’t just focus on the one job he obviously loves so much. His mother would be so so proud.

go Harry! we love you down under

I loathe myself for feeding the press monster around the royal family. I think prince Harry is an amazing man, soldier and prince. But I just can’t stop myself from reading and watching anything about them!

Why is Prince Harry called “Captain WALES ?”…………it’s Prince William who is the Prince of Wales……….should it actually be Captain Windsor ?
As privileged as they are, the British Royal Family are very keen to “do one’s duty” so it looks like Prince Harry is treating this as deadly serious.
They’re a brave lot (regardless of how we feel about them). I remember the Queen & Prince Philip riding bare-headed in an open-top vehicle through the streets of London the day after the horrible subway bombing – that takes guts………….there’s only so many “caviar tit-bits”, champagne & cream cakes that would make up for those kinds of risks.

Prince Charles is the Prince of Wales. Prince William is the Duke of Cambridge. Unsure why the boys are known as ‘Wales’. I remember years ago when Harry first enlisted, there was a photo of him and his helmet was emblazoned with ‘Wales’. When William graduated uni, he was called up as ‘Wales’ to get his degree.

Apparently they use it to ‘blend in’ because William Windsor and Harry Windsor give them away. At school they didnt want to be seen as above their classmates.
I read that, so not sure how true it is…

I think until they are given their own title they go by their fathers

My great grandfather, also a Harry, was an Royal Air Force pilot with red hair and blue eyes himself. He fought in WWI in France and Egypt, and received an MBE. I think PH is a champ except for all the hunting and shooting of innocent animals with PW. Gah! Please Harry. Just. Stop. It. otherwise, you are cool.

Love Harry- just one of the boys. Good on him for having a real job, not just cutting ribbons and shaking hands. If I were 10 years younger……………..

Good for him. Its probably the only job he could do where he is one of the boys and left alone by the media. He would be shielded by the army’s security protocols.
Lets face it – even if there was a revolution and they did get rid of the royals, the press would still hound him and his family and he still wouldn’t get to live a “normal” life.

I’m wondering if Harry is aware that he’s pushing s#*t uphill? The only person EVER to conquer or subdue Afghanistan was Alexander the Great and it was subsequently held by Greece for 200 years. Many nations have since attempted it, all have failed. I hope his sincere efforts are not in vain.

From the little boy with his head bowed behind his mother’s coffin to this: it’s quite a journey. I think his Mum (any Mum) would be hugely proud.

I remember being a little girl and saying to my Mum “I wish I was a princess” and she replied “no you don’t, you would never get to choose your own life”. This interview really tells you why you don’t want to be born into a life. He would clearly like to be a career soldier, I wonder if it will be possible.

He probably could although as he climbs higher up the greasy pole there would be suggestions that he got there because of being royal rather than ability which might mean he couldn’t do it for life. This is what happened to Phil the Greek. By all accounts he was a very good ship driver and could have gone to the very top but being married to the Queen meant that he couldn’t be fairly treated in the promotion system and got out.
