We’re kicking off this week’s gallery with the celebrity pics we can’t stop looking at. They’re from a Tumblr called Celebrity Close-Up and they’ve been trending on the internet this week.
Also in the gallery, there’s Taylor Swift in a pretty awesome t-shirt, the Ben & Jerry’s ice-cream campaign in support of gay marriage, photos of Japan one year after the tsunami and much more.

These pictures are from a Tumblr called Celebrity Close Ups. This is Pamela Anderson

RE: Cupid and Venus
From a male perspective, the original is a better shape. We really don’t like out ladies to look like prepubescent boys with boobs. O.K!

I love how the close up pics remind us that celebs are not perfect-but all those mag covers-especially the perfect seeming bodies of the kardashians was a low note-I know they r photoshopped but they still sort of make u feel like crap

I quite like the celebrity close-ups gallery. Yes, the site curator has deliberately chosen some very unflattering shots of celebs, but it kind of reminds me of the ones my siblings take of me and then put up on Facebook without my permission!
Actors and models aren’t a superclass of humans. I think this is a great reality check. It’s refreshing to see REAL SKIN with pores and lines. Am I the only one who thinks these pictures are beautiful? I think laugh lines are gorgeous.

It’s a great shame on all of us that once again this week’s pics are of endless celebrities and models who are worried about their heels and only one of a truly inspirational women, Aung San Suu Kyi.

That should be “woman, Aung San Suu Kyi”, not plural, although more than one of her would be fantastic.

Just as an aside – should that “save” button say “send or submit” perhaps can never work it out Mia?

All I can say is that Proactive seems to have worked for Justin Beiber – go Proactive!

I’m curious- does anyone know what sort of ramifications there would be for the models who took their shoes off? I can see where they are coming from (I’m hopeless in heels!) but isn’t it kind of their job? Would they get in trouble/ lose work over it or would it be a good thing because the show gets extra press?

I was just going to ask the same question. I thought all models were used to walking in sky high heels.

Despite what the models may or may not have said, I thought the designer asked them to do it so that people would talk about it…

Ive never been able to view the mm galleries on my iPhone. Any ideas? It just goes back to the main page.

Pic 6 – it’s impossible to look sexy taking your shoes off.

Love the B&J icecream! Less in love with the focus on skinny models. This sort of thing never ends well. Thank goodness MM community are generally more respectful than the Daily Mail community.

On iPad, no gallery!

On iPhone – no gallery!?

I’m on Android, no gallery!
Edit: I switched to regular mm theme as opposed to mobile theme and now can see it

Those close-up pictures remind me of the kind of thing mags like NW do. There are hundreds of close-up, un-retouched images of many of the celebs they feature where they look fantastic, but this tumblr chooses to feature the absolute worst photo’s out there.
What kind of doctor thinks it’s ok to speculate about someone’s health and looks to a trashy paper, based on seeing nothing more than a few altered images?
I don’t think the standards of beauty in regards to size have changed much at all. For the past two decades (give or take) ultra-thin models have been the norm on the catwalk, but they are the benchmark of fashion right now, not beauty or sensuality. In Western culture, beauty as it relates to the ideal body has been pretty set in stone for a long time now.
