1. Photos of a woman who posted a non traditional before and after picture on Facebook have gone viral. In an interview with the Today Show, Taryn Brumfitt said she wanted to prove to her friends that you “can love your body before and you can love it after”.

Taryn said she considered surgery after the birth of her third child, but later had an epiphany when she was looking at her daughter, Michaela.

“I thought to myself, how am I ever going to teach her to love her body if her mum can’t do the same? So I wanted to be a positive role model for her, and that’s what started this whole movement.” Taryn runs the Body Image Movement on Facebook.

2. Federal Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus has been forced to apologise after an incident on a Qantas flight yesterday. Mr Dreyfus reportedly refused to turn off his phone on his Sydney to Brisbane flight – and after a fellow passenger complained – Mr Dreyfus was met by federal police officers on arrival. A spokesperson for the Attorney General told the media: “The Attorney-General regrets the incident and apologised to the passenger and to airport security.” Rebel.

3. The mother of Kiesha Weippeart has put forward a plea of guilty to her manslaughter but an agreement could not be reached with the Crown prosecutor, who is determined to see the mother stand trial for murder. Six-year-old Kiesha went missing from her home in August 2010. Her body was found eight months later. Kristi Anne Abrahams will stand trial next month for murder.

4. A real estate firm in the US is offering its employees a 15 per cent pay rise if they get the company’s logo tattooed on their body. At least 40 of Rapid Realty‘s 1100 employees have already inked up.

One employee who got the tattoo said: “When I did it, we were very proud of our company and where we worked and it was fun for us.” The company also offers its employees the pay rise if they do charity work, meet bench marks or mentor a fellow employee.

5. British police have reportedly interviewed an Australian woman in relation to sex abuse allegations against entertainer Rolf Harris. UK press have reported that the woman was not a victim, but allegedly witnessed “an incident”.  Last month Harris was interviewed in relation to the allegations, but no charges have been laid.

6. More details have emerged in the story of the 5-year-old US boy who accidentally shot his 2-year-old sister dead using a gun he received as a present. The boy, Kristian Sparks, reportedly shot the 22-calibre rifle when his mother went outside to feed the family’s dogs. The gun Kristian used is sold in the ‘kids’ corner’ section of its manufacturer’s website and comes in pink, blue and other colours. Cumberland County Judge John Phelps said having guns in areas like Kentucky was “normal”. “It’s a normal way of life, and it’s not just rural Kentucky, it’s rural America – hunting and shooting and sport fishing… There’s probably not a household in this county that doesn’t have a gun.”
