Australian model turned Islamic State recruit reportedly killed fighting with Islamic State.

Another Australian reportedly killed fighting for Islamic State.

A Melbourne man Sharky Jama has reportedly been shot dead while fighting in Syria with Islamic State militants.

The former model’s father Dada Jama told SBS he received a phone call on Monday informing him his son had been killed.

“He was told by his friends,” Radio Somali broadcaster Ibrahim Mohamed said.

“He got a text message and he received a phone call from Syria, someone has told him his son has passed away. Then he said ‘I tried his number’, because he has contact with his son. Automatically, it goes to voicemail, that’s what he said, and then he knew that his son is gone.”

Mr Mohamed said Jama would be urging the Somali community to ensure their children don’t fall prey to militants.

“His message is to the Somali community, to look after their kids,” Mr Mohamed said.
