Her son said he didn’t want to have a party for his birthday.
When she asked him why he said it was because he didn’t have any friends to invite.
He told his Mum he eats lunch alone in the office everyday because no one will let him sit with them, and rather than force someone to be unhappy with his presence, he sits alone in the office.
Imagine hearing that from your son? It would break you inside.
But Jennifer, from Michigan in the US didn’t let it break her. She set out to change it.
And now Colin has over 1.7 million friends!
You see Colin has a sensory processing disorder and finds it hard to play with other kids.
Colin’s Mum set up a Facebook page so some family and friends could say Happy Birthday to him – what she never expected was a world wide reaction – and international media.
Jennifer told Wood TV8 that Colin finds it difficult to socialize and tends to act out in certain situations.
‘Things like lights and sound and changes will cause him to melt down,’ she said
‘When you put a bunch of 10 year olds and one who acts like that, and they are all going, “What’s wrong with that kid?” You know, it’s hard.’
‘I thought, if I could create a page where people could send him positive thoughts and encouraging words, that would be better than any birthday party,’ Jennifer wrote on Facebook.

The page is so lovely... I got a bit teary!
Actually, the boy doesn't have 1 million friends. Every message sent came via pity.
