The Rainbow Road.

8. $110,000. That’s how much it’s cost the City Sydney Council to paint a rainbow road on Sydney’s Oxford St in preparation for this weekend’s Mardi Gras. It’s been a controversial move – with many suggesting it’s a waste of money.

I was nice watching Peter Harvey on television, a journalist with integrity, a gentleman and a family man who eclipsed the socialist left wing nuts on the ABC, however no need to hold false beliefs that doctors are working to fight the disease, as the most likely it is too late and the treatment now is palliative only. A third of humanity will also have to walk the same path.
    Condolences to the family.

How could it possibly cost $110,000 to paint a rainbow crossing????!! Did they use gold paint or something?!
The situation with the sri lankan asylum seeker break and enter sounds awful for the young woman however it concerns me that these sorts of things happen not infrequently but yet it is big news just because it was an aslyum seeker. Plenty of aussie boys behave this way too ! The perfect example being all the stuff going on at St John’s at Syd Uni. Not excusing this man’s behaviour at all, just interesting how it is reported.

Karratha and Dampier are NOT on red alert, they are still on blue. I’m sure most people with friends and family would be getting their info from the BOM site, but still you need to make sure sure you don’t post incorrect info that may panic people.

Only if I could, I would go measure the size of the road. Go to a paint store ask them to work out how many litres of paint needed. Then work out how many hours to paint it. You don’t need a rocket scientist to work out the total cost. $110,000? That’s scandalous!!!

I don’t think the rainbow is a waste of money given how much more money the Mardi Gras brings in to Sydney/NSW…

it’s a total waste of money! Couldn’t they get some volunteers to paint it for free!

It is a lot of money, but it’s a drop in the ocean compared to the costs of promoting things like sport events, festivals, fireworks, etc. I find it interesting that people are so up in arms about this and not the cost of those things, which are often events that lead to councils making a lost, not a major profit (unlike the Mardi Gras!).

But how does painting it possibly costs that much? It makes no sense at all!

I’m an Aussie girl now living in the US. The whole ‘no cake for birthdays’ issue has been alive and well here for years. It’s a shame but the only cake you are allowed to bring for birthday celebrations is a specific supermarket brand. So many kids seem to have allergies – it’s a nanny-state here!

Devastated to hear that Peter Harvey is seriously ill.

‘Peter Harvey (pregnant pause) Canberra’ in the lowest octave humanly possible (hence, our nickname for him – Three Balls) will forever live on as a childhood and teen memory.

All the best to Peter Harvey and his family.

Couldn’t help but roll my eyes at the eternal optimist, Sonia Kruger, who tweeted ‘get well soon.’ seriously
