A mother has attempted to smuggle her baby through a Philippines airport.

The woman attempted to sneak the baby boy past airport security at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila by hiding him… in her backpack.

The two-month old was spotted while being screened by customs in an x-ray machine.

According to ABS-CBN News, security personnel were quite shocked when they saw the image of the baby in the backpack. When they found him, the baby was sound asleep.

The 25-year-old mother, Jennifer Pavolaurea, was leaving for Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea with her baby in tow.

The baby was discovered in a security x-ray scan.

The assistant general manager for security and emergency services of the airport, Vicente L. Guerzon Jr, said the woman had been detained for questioning and admitted the lack of clearance papers for the child.

The mum and bub were allowed to continue on to their flight and no charges were filed.
