Her pregnancy was high risk because of a blood vessel disease she has that could be fatal during a natural birth. Ms Bradshaw-Crowther suffers from a vascular syndrome called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome that can cause blood vessels, intestines or a woman’s uterus to rupture.

Her daughter, Lauren Lusk was meant to drive her to hospital for the scheduled C-section. It was 5am when they were due to depart.

Lauren Lusk, 26, told NBC News that she had spent the weekend with her mother, helping her prepare for the birth of the baby girl.

In the early hours of Tuesday June 2nd Bradshaw-Crowther told her daughter to go and fill her car with petrol before they set off for the 40-minute drive to hospital for her delivery. Ms Lusk was gone for 10 minutes.

“When I got back, she was gone. The lights in the house were off, the door was unlocked,” Lusk said.

Bradshaw-Crowther’s car was also missing. Lusk called the hospital where she was supposed to deliver and police checked other local hospitals. She wasn’t at any of them.

Her mother’s wallet was gone and her mobile phone.

Mr Lusk, the baby’s father – who was due to meet them at the hospital, and Bradshaw-Crowther’s brother, Drew Bradshaw alerted authorities baffled and deeply concerned about her whereabouts.

Lauren Lusk said her mother was excited about the arrival of her new daughter she planned to call Olivia Grace.

“She seemed nervous obviously, but more towards the end of the pregnancy, she started getting happier about it. The last few weeks, she was really excited,”

As police began searching Ms Lusk made an emotional plea”

“She cannot give natural birth, and that’s why our family is so worried,” she said. “If she does go into labor, she won’t make it.

Police said they had reports she had stayed the night at a local hotel.

Last week authorities came out saying that mother ‘left of her own accord’, but her family members continued to make pleas for her safe return worried that her baby could be born at any moment and that with her medical condition ‘if she does go into labor she won’t make it’.

Her family were desperately worried about the health of her baby.

Her family relieved the mother and baby was safe.

The nightly news headlined with news that she had been found and could now safely deliver her baby.

But the story took a sad turn.

As the public waited for news on the delivery of this mother’s baby – hoping and praying for her safety after a week on the run they were faced with this statement instead on the Facebook page of her brother.

“Carrie is presently hospitalized and is receiving much needed medical care. While it is unfortunate, we no longer expect a new addition to our family and ask for your continued prayers.”

The local media spoke to Mr Bradshaw. One reporter asking him “Mr. Bradshaw, can you tell us if Carrie’s baby died?”

“I can’t tell you more than that all I can say is we’re not expecting any new addition to our family. We respect the HIPAA laws and we feel that releasing any more information should be in Carrie’s discretion after she has had the opportunity to heal,” was the reply.

Unfortunately his answer hasn’t sated the appetite of social media which much online speculation about the true meaning behind his words and the veracity of Ms Bradshaw-Crowther’s story .

After a week of waiting on news of this baby the lack of one has made many question the facts behind much of what was said.

All we really need to know, and all we may ever know is that Carrie Bradshaw-Crowther is safe.

The rest is hers to tell should she wish to.
