Acting Commander Nugent said Luke’s resilience was “absolutely amazing”, the ABC reports. “An 11-year-old boy, challenged as he is with his autism, he’s a courageous, resilient, strong young man,” he said. “Everyone is overwhelmed by the news… To find him safe and well… is just wonderful news.”

Luke, who has autism, wandered away from his family’s campsite at the Candlebark camping ground, near Lake Eildon, on Good Friday.

He was missing for more than five days.

Rescue teams have been scouring the bush for days in search of the missing 11-year-old.

He was wearing a scarf, dark grey tracksuit pants and grey boots and a black windcheater and a beanie for warmth.

As Mamamia reported this morning, that beanie was found just west of the campsite yesterday afternoon. That discovery was a breakthrough in the search, providing Luke’s worried family with a glimmer of hope.
