How we love our Logies. Even those who don’t love them love to say how much they love not caring about them.
But the Logies are there, more glamorous, more controversial, more addictive every year. Personally, I had no clue who half the people on the red carpet were last night. A bit like I have no idea about the horses going round Flemington in November. But that’s not the point. The Logies is ours in all their glamorous glory. With just enough dagginess to make us feel homey. There’s always something to natter about the day after, and for your convenience, we’ve summarised the most talkable talking points. We’re like that.
1. The Frocks.

Georgie Gardner
This, if we’re honest, is what the Logies is all about. If all the stars were to dress in uniform unisex grey tracksuits (you know, so they can be assessed purely on acting ability) would anyone be bothered watching? Noooo. Have a look at our gallery – one of our biggest ever, (it went off last night).
2. The Dancers. So. Flo Rida performed. Huge star. Something of a coup for Australia’s little ol’ Logies. But why, oh why, the dozens of female dancers in black vinyl hotpants and thigh boots? Mia tweeted:
A voice in the wilderness? There seemed to be more complaints on Twitter about the Flo lip-syncing. Sigh.
3. The Dancers. A little later in the show, ‘Australia’s Sweetheart,’ Delta Goodrem performed with a posse of dancers dressed like the cast of a Sunday School’s doing Oklahoma. One (male) dancer’s trousers were hemmed a little short. But that was as racy Delta’s act got. Double standard, anyone?
4. The Delay. When will network executives work out social media isn’t a passing trend? It’s a trending one. Farcically, Twitter knew Hamish had the gold gong before anyone in the room did, thanks to a leak from the Herald Sun. Ooops. Do it live, people, and the Logies will crackle with a whole new life.
5. The Awards. It seemed there were more tweets about the frocks than the awards. This speaks volumes. Awards, in many ways, just get in the way of a good show. Speeches went on too looooong. If someone has time to thank the program’s web designer, they have too much time.
6. Adam Hills. When he popped on his two-year-old daughter’s sunnies (as he promised her he would if he won), Australia said, ‘Awwwww,’ and Delta’s crown as ‘Australia’s Sweetheart,’ looked a little loose.
7. Molly’s Hall Of Fame Induction. For anyone old enough to remember what it was like to argue with your siblings about who WOULD BE NUMBER ONE on Sunday night, it was a delicious look in Australia’s rear view mirror. Great job Danni Minogue and Sir Elton. Do yourself a favour and get well soon Molly.
8. Last Year’s Scandal. Became this year’s running gag. Mrs Stefanovic’s arse has a life of its own. For an explanation, watch Hamish and his acceptance speech here. It kicks off from 3:10:
10. The Mystery Of The Missing Host. What? No host! ON AN AWARDS SHOW! Bloody brilliant idea. Diversify. Share the love. The bad jokes. Giving hosting responsibilities to a range of presenters was a stroke of genius. Something for everybody. BIG WIN.
11. Hamish And Andy. Like naughty boys on school speech night, they charmed every time they appeared – which wasn’t enough.
Okay, that was eleven talking points. It’s hard to keep it short when talking Logies. Tell us, what did you love, like, or long to change about the 2012 Logies?
And for the curious, the red carpet looks from LAST YEAR are brilliant. Here’s how it all unfolded in 2011:

Magdalena Rose & Asher look amazing!
Hayley lewis did well
loading...
I have a girl crush on Magdalena Rose, I think she is just gorgeous and could wear practically anything and look great in it. She seems like a really happy and enthusiastic person aswell which is beautiful. Is she with Hamish McDonald? I thought I saw them on the circle this morning but missed the first bit. Hes great too (lovely smile)

Admin: guys just letting you know that your photo galleries always have a slow time on my computer. it freezes in the middle with the thinking circle flashing. just letting you know. perhaps if enough people are having trouble there could me a different gallery format you could use xx thanks for bringing us such great pics

loading...
Thanks – we are actually experiencing some huge traffic today (that will happen when you have such a gorgeous Logies gallery
) .
Can you tell me whether you are on a laptop, pc or mobile device?
xxx
loading...
Me too. Even at 4am when I couldn’t sleep. iPad and iPhone. I gave up which is a shame as they were good photos!
loading...
Me too! All the time, on PC and iphone. I don’t even bother trying to look at the galleries now
loading...
Yes, unfortunately they don’t work well for me either. It’s not just this one but most of the galleries. Great site though, love it.
loading...
Disappointing to see so many mistakes with the names on the photos too.
People have already commented, it’s Susie Elleman and Lauren Phillips. Take the time to correct it please!!
loading...
I had other plans, but my wife forced me to watch the telecast with her. Found Adam Hills’ opening monologue amusing. Denise Scott gave me a laugh. Didn’t like Flo Rida. Didn’t like Delta Goodrem. Didn’t find the “highly hilarious” routine as performed by two “highly hilarious” presenters funny. At all !
Hasn’t Molly been inducted into the Hall of Fame before ? Correct me if I’m wrong, please.
I must be watching the wrong TV shows as I recognised very few of the “stars” and programs that were up for gongs. Sad to say, but I knew more about the people mentioned in the Memorium Reel.
There were some great programs on Fox about the Titanic that I really would have preferred to be watching. But sometimes you have to settle for watching another disaster unfold.
Not funny, not that entertaining and way too long.
loading...
i can’t imagine you being forced to do anything bradley!
must be frustrating.. i hope you have an outlet for that
loading...
I thought that flo rider opening number was so ludicrousy ridiculous I laughed and thought it was a joke!. the backup dancers were just silly and what was with the joker smile jewell encrusted microphone holder?! Lisa Wilkinson looked a vision in green. GOrgeous. I thought the Block guy delivered a fantastic thankyou speech, so articulate and all round impressive.
loading...
What were they thinking with a black background for the photo’s at a black tie event?
loading...
Kate Ritchie, Gigi Edgley and Kylie Gillies looked gorgeous, amazing gowns!
loading...
Anyone else have trouble getting past Bindi Irwin?! Look at her! That’s CRAZY!
loading...
Logies Best-Dressed Top Three:
* Shelley Craft – just…. PERFECT.
* Kate Ritchie – divine. best I’ve seen her look.
* Asher Keddie – exquisite. the J’aton boys are magicians.
Honourable Mention:
* Livinia Nixon – loved the flouncy shoulders & draping
* Delta Goodrem – always lovely, and the necklace during her performance was to die for!
* Rebecca Gibney’s Mum
* Bindi Irwin – age appropriate and pretty hair.
Dishonourable Mention:
* Sonia Kruger – from the waist down, her peplum skirt was beautiful, but the top? White racer-back speedo one piece. A shame because it had such promise.
* Yumi Stynes – I know the mullet look has it’s fans, but I’m not one of them.

Need more Zoe photos!
Natasha Belling is absolutely stunning, but I must say Kate Richie’s frock took my breath away – it was like looking at the night sky!
loading...
Thanks for the roundup, since I didn’t watch it. I am going to sound all old and nannery but why is it on so late! The first award wasn’t presented until 8.44pm (I was watching the clock). My bedtime is 9pm usually. Although since I really just wanted to see the frocks at least I got to see that. But all that hoopla at the beginning just seemed to go on and on. Just curious, what time did it end?
loading...
Hamish’s speech was brilliant.
So happy for him, Zoe and Andy.
loading...
My favourite dressed were Lisa Wilkins and Asher Keddie.
And I am a bit bored by Rebecca Judds look, always more or less the same(even at her wedding). With her figure she could easily go with a bit of a different dress every now and then.
loading...
Couldn’t agree more! I said the same thing, for the last 2-3 years her dresses have been the same, same colour tones, same style – tight bodice, ruffled at the bottom. Boring
loading...
the award show should definitely be live and broadcast at the same time across the country. the power of social media can make the show more popular and engaging so it’s a win-win strategy. also i think the tameness of Delta’s dancers reflects her persona more than it reflects ‘double standards’…
loading...
Kate Richie, Melissa Doyle, Carrie Bickmore, Asher Keddie, Magdelena Roze were my best dressed for the night.
I agree with you Mia, The opening act was really quite shameful. If I had my tween child sitting up to see the awards with me it would be a quick channel change and no more logies. It’s just not good enough to have those kind of acts on ‘televisions night of nights’, it’s very jarring to have to be part of that world if I want to watch an awards show!
loading...
I totally agree, as my partner and I sat and watched it were looked at each other in disbelief that the organisers thought that act was an appriopriate way to open and australian tv awards show, and wondered how many people out there were put off by it.
loading...
“If someone has time to thank the program’s web designer, they have too much time.”
I think this is a very “old media” point of view in today’s media landscape. These days a program’s success can hinge on a cross-media campaign and a well designed website can be crucial.
It’s a particularly strange opinion to be posted on a website, where surely the design is considered an important factor in readability, discover-ability and share-ability.
BTW – I am not a web designer myself, but I appreciate the value of good design.
loading...
Hey, I think this statement was not meant literally, but more generally/hypothetically as in if someone has time to thank the SAP developer, they have too much time (for their speech).
It was probably meant beyond the literal … try to read it with a sense of humour. (BTW: Web designers are fantastic and no doubt provide valuable skills/talent, but, in the context of a TV awards ceremony, thanking the web designer is probably overkill).
Personally, the thanking-the-web-designer comment made me laugh out loud for about a full minute because of the ironic wit and hint of sarcasm. Brilliant!!
Thank you.
loading...
The winner of best children’s show My Place, from the ABC, the lady who accepted the award did thank the web site’s designer.
loading...
1. Does anyone know who did Kate Ritchie’s dress? I thought it was stunning.
2. I love Sonia Kruger usually but i found her red carpet “jokes” cringeworthy
3. Guy Sebastian and that suit – man oh man *swoon*
4. Sam Armytage & Megan Gale – va va voom gorgeous
5. Is there a picture of the back of Livinia’s outift?
6. Asher Keddie could not be more perfect
loading...
I believe Kate Ritchie’s dress was by Steven Khalil – it was stunning.
loading...
Agree with Mia’s comments on opening act – love the song, was pretty awesome performance overall but what with the women’s outfits – my 6 yr old was watching! Why the need to let it all hang out? They were good dancers but different outfits required. Absolutely agree Asher Keddie topped best dressed. Once the fashion show was over I tuned out!
loading...
This is a genuine question: why do people like Paula Joye and Rebecca Judd get invited when people like Jane Kennedy and Em Rusciano who are on tv on a weekly basis don’t get invited? I find the list of those invited quite ridiculous sometimes…
loading...
Rebecca Judd and Paula Joye do regular spots on television too (Mornings with Sonia Kruger and David Campbell).
loading...
I think invites should be extended to people who are paid to be on TV.
Not people who show up on morning shows to promote a brand or themselves.
loading...
Lisa Wilkinson is so beautiful!!
loading...
I can’t decide who I have a bigger crush on: Zoe or Hamish??
loading...
The Lauryn in the silver dress is ‘Lauren Phillips’ I think….
loading...
Yes it is
loading...
Natarsha Belling. Hands down.
What were Delta’s back-up dancers doing?
‘Back UP, dancers!’
loading...
The looked like brent st rejects!! Terrible!!
loading...
Carrie Bickmore is utterly stunning. As always.
loading...
Aww congrats to Hamish Blake, he is hilarious. Zoe Foster looked fab too!!
loading...
Does anyone know who designed Gigi Edgley’s dress?
loading...
Yes I would love to know this too!
loading...
wow… so much dag…
loading...
I need a photo of Essie Davis desperately!! She was absolutely stunning and I can’t find a photo of her online anywhere!
loading...
Isn’t it Channel 9′s Sonia and David?! (instead of Channel 7)
loading...
Shelly Craft is best dressed for me. Asher Keddies dress photographs well but I didn’t think it looked as good on tv. Christie Swan looked beautiful. And Seal rocks a white suit. Have to add that Zoe looks stunning!
loading...
Should say Chrissie Swan! I also forgot to add Livinia Nixon and while I thought Kate Ritchie looked gorgeous and she definitely dispelled the pregnancy rumors I think the sparkly sequin dress has been done to death!
Sorry Kate.
loading...
It’s Flo-rida not Flo-rider
loading...
Who cares!!! Really come on…
loading...
I love Sonia – I think she’s gorgeous and presenting seems to be very natural for her. And I hated Jen Hawkins dress!
Agree with you about Carrie though, gorgeous! I adored Lisa Wilkinson’s brave choice and Natarsha Belling also looked great.
loading...
Sonia always appears to be checking herself out and looks as if she’s trying too hard to me. She also always manages to say something inappropriate. If she didn’t have the auto cue she would be totally lost, you only have to see her on the morning show, she’s like a startled gazelle in the headlights! Comfortable – I think quite the contrary.
loading...
She’s always irritated me for some reason, can’t put my finger on why.
loading...
Lauryn Eagle! I went to school with her.
How random…
loading...
Can’t actually believe I am watching the Logies after all these years – and am kind of enjoying it with the mixture of comedians and no one host.
Loved Adam Hills opening the show with un-PC sarcasm and the Angelina pose but mostly just admiring Andy Lee – has he ever been more gorgeous?!?
loading...
Hi there,
just a small note, I think Lauryn Eagle is a model and a professional boxer.
Thanks!
loading...
Thanks Megs

Stalker much I know
loading...
Zoe really showed it off for the curvy girls tonight! Go you plus sized good thing! Ironically, I forget how different Zoe looks from her photoshopped pics on here. Still pretty but looked much ‘realer’ last night!
loading...
Zoe? Plus sized???
loading...
I know! She is itsy bitsy!
loading...
Um… seriously? I highly doubt she’s plus sized….!
loading...
She looks plus sized? Not being mean, she just genuinely looks at least a size 12ish… which is plus size! next to the actresses etc, i forget she’s a bigger girl. SHe looks stunning though!
loading...
Plus sized? Are you for real? Not even remotely. If she is plus sized then the rest of us normal girls are obese by your classification.
loading...
Wow! When did size 12 become plus size? I think you are living on a very thin wedge there Anna.
loading...
There is nothing wrong with being a size 12, but there is no way Zoe is a size 12. 8-10 without question.
loading...
I think it’s ridiculous to suggest that she’s plus size but there is no way she’s a size 8 either. Probably 10-12.
loading...
I was at Zoe’s Younger Man launch in Melbourne a few weeks ago – she is in no way plus- size, whatever that means?
And if you think she is ‘photo-shopped’ i EMPLORE you to go to one of her in store appearances. She looks just like her picture. She is actually as pretty as she appears in the photos.
Zoe is absolutely stunning! And attacking her from a keyboard is pretty sad.
I only watched the logies to see how she looked. If you thought she was ‘plus size’ or ‘bigger’ than the other girls, as you say, I think you have a warped understanding of the female physique.
You know Hamish’s ex girlfriend’s name is Anna… hmmm
loading...
Emma, you sound a little like an obsessive fan. Suggesting that someone looked different at The Logies to their picture here is hardly attacking them. Calm down.
loading...
I get what you’re saying. She does look very different on screen, as opposed to pics here or the (can’t remember if Cleo or Cosmo) articles, which I suspect are slimmed down! Maybe it’s just the difference between her and the girls who are paid to keep skinny.
She looked lovely, especially because of her curves. Not plus-sixed though, she just has hips and shoulders.
loading...
…troll?
loading...
I’m not Hamish’s ex! Interesting how everyone took ‘plus sized’ to be so offensive. I’ve met Zoe a few times, she’s lovely. But next to models/actresses she’s a bit bigger. Ain’t nothing wrong with being a size 12! And yes, she’s gorgeous. And that’s all I’ll ever type becauase I’m really curious why that was considered such a bad thing on here to be bigger than a size 8.
Anyhoo, off to read a Body Acceptance story… and one about how photoshop is so bad…
loading...
“Ain’t nothing wrong with being a size 12!”
But there is something wrong (i.e. incorrect) with calling ‘size 12′ ‘plus-sized’.
loading...
I reckon if you were a size 12 and trying to get a modelling job, you would be put into the ‘plus sized’ category.
loading...
I have had the pleasure of meeting Zoe quite a few times and let me tell you she is ridiculously good looking – more so than her pictures! I’ve found myself staring at her skin, which as you would expect, glows.
And not that it matters what size she is, but plus-size is definitely not an apt description of her!
loading...
Absolute troll behind this comment. Not appropriate when Zoe is not plus sized in the slightest and looked so stunning.
Congratulations Hamish on the win both in relation to Zoe and the Gold Logie
Both fine specimens!
loading...
What is it with the lack of colour? Black and nude seem to be the flavour of the night. Love Jen Hawkins’ dress and Carrie Bickmore’s. Gorgeous colours. At least they stand out. The rest look boring!
And while we are being armchair critics – I’m hating the cone-head hair – must have all gone to the same hairedresser!
loading...
Argh! What’s with Attack of the Coneheads?! Seriously ugly.
loading...
I thought they looked like bike helmets. Not flattering at all!
loading...
Love Asher keddie’s frock. Lisa wilkinson looks gorgeous and the worst from here is Kat Stewart – she takes a risk tho and that’s a good thing. Rebecca Judd – same dress, face, looks like she has taken scissors to her wedding dress. It’s so easy being an armchair critic sitting here in trackie dams, no bra hoing into a packet of grain waves after eating your daughters left over Easter egg…
loading...
Asher Kedie looks amazing, Natarsha Belling – stunning, Jen Hawkins wow, Carrie Bickmore is gorgeous but looking very thin – I love all her clothes she wears on The Project, Melissa Doyle – the colour on her is lovely
loading...
Thank god Scott Cam was holding Shelley Craft’s hand ! I jumped out of my skin when she tripped up those stairs !!
loading...
Natarsha Belling looks absolutely AMAZING. Perfect dress and make up.
loading...
I am SO glad I’m not on that red carpet – oh, the pressure!
I’m much happier sitting here in my flanny with my cup of tea.
loading...
Zoe, you look gorgeous. All glowy and polished. That skincare routine certainly did the job
loading...
Didn’t it just? I hope we get more ‘getting-ready’ deets in her posts next week!
loading...
Hell, I’ll take anything she says if it helps me steal a little of that magic for myself!
loading...
Asher Keddie, luminously beautiful and that dress is just divine. I love Hamish dearly, and would be ever so happy if he won… But my vote has to be for Asher, it’s one of the very few shows I watch- and HAVE to watch! Good luck to them ALL.
loading...
Oh no! Zoe Fosters face is too pale for her body!! Magdalena Rose however, looks divine!
loading...
Uhhh Zoe’s face and body are the same colour. What pictures are you looking at?
loading...
Change back to the old format, I can’t see anything with THis
loading...
1. Ew. One Direction seem a little bit like a whole band of Biebers.
2. Asher Keddie may be the most gorgeous woman ever.
3. Except Zoe.
loading...
Heh heh. Funny, funny and funny!
loading...
You know you don’t watch enough TV when you don’t know anyone at the logies…
loading...
I know. I don’t know who Esther Anderson is and she’s up for a Gold.
loading...
She’s in Home and Away… and clearly I watch too much tv!
loading...
I can’t watch that nonsense. Besides, it clashes with The Big Bang Theory!
loading...
I was going to come on and say i find it a bit sad that i just don’t care!
I watch a LOT of television but don’t watch free to air or Australian content anymore
loading...
THAT’S One Direction? Really? What’s with their hair? I do not understand..
Asher Keddie looks amazing
loading...
Asher Keddie. Elegant. Beautiful. The most sylish thing on the red carpet. But all that pales in conparison to her talent as an actress.
loading...
and she’s a super real person – am making this statement as a mere little Jane Blogs as I don’t know her personally but bumped into her in a Melb boutique recently. Gosh she was so personable, friendly, lovely, just a really calm, nice, real energy (after briefly chatting, she complimented me on something I was buying and I had one of those little bubble moments of ‘I don’t just like you, I think I love you’… which I recall blurting out rather inappropriately – and an “oops, ever so sorry” apologising with the excuse being “my spontaneity’s just like Nina’s and life catches me offguard and surprises me sometimes” – she got the quirkiness and laughed along with me – just lovely!).
loading...
OH MY. I love Asher Keddie’s dress!! Any word on the designer. I want.
Also love Natarsha Belling- love the make up. Stunning.
loading...
I’m guessing it’s J’Aton. Definitely best dressed in my books, stunning.
loading...
Yep Asher Keddie’s dress is by J’Aton
loading...
