Can you help Ayaan?

Meet Ayaan:

Ayaan needs a facial reconstruction in order to enjoy the quality of life that most of us take for granted. However, when she applied for a visa to access this surgery in Australia, she was deemed to be a “non-genuine visitor.”

The following is from Ayaan’s Project Team, a group currently petitioning the Federal Minister for Immigration Scott Morrison to allow Ayan into Australia for treatment:

Half of her face is beautiful. The other half is severely disfigured. A bullet ripped through Ayaan’s cheekbone when she was just two — leaving it near impossible for her to eat, drink or close her eye properly. Much of life is a misery.

That was nearly 20 years ago. A team of medical specialists lead by a prominent Brisbane maxillofacial surgeon and a Brisbane Private Hospital, have offered help. Two Brisbane Rotary Clubs have fundraised to cover all additional costs — However, the Immigration Minister Scott Morrison may still reject Ayaan’s medical visa to allow Ayaan to enter Australia for the facial reconstruction surgery she so desperately needs.

Ayaan’s second visa application — specifically to access the facial surgery then return home to Somaliland and to her young daughter — is now in it’s final stage of assessment. The original visa application was rejected on the grounds that Ayaan was seen to be a “non-genuine visitor”: Ayaan was shattered by the decision.

Should the Australian Government approve the Visa application – then we can help Ayaan enjoy the life she deserves. Australians are ready, willing and able to provide this life-changing support. It would be devastating to let this opportunity slip. Ayaan’s story has already featured on Channel Ten’s The Project and you can see it by clicking here.

Ayaan doesn’t have a voice so it is up to us to shout as loudly as we can to help her access the first class medical intervention available here in Brisbane.  Please give your voice to Ayaan by signing our petition, asking the Australian government to let us help this woman.

You can sign their petition by clicking here.

Share this post to spread the word, and help Ayaan receive the treatment she so desperately needs.
