Gable Tostee has been arrested and charged with the murder of New Zealand tourist Warriena Wright.

Wright, 26, fell to her death last Friday from the balcony of Tostee’s Surfers Paradise apartment after meeting him on dating app Tinder.

Tostee, 28, was was being processed at Surfers Paradise police station after his arrest shortly before noon today and was later taken to the Southport watch house.

His lawyer has indicated he will defend the charge and plead not guilty, News.com.au reports.

Earlier this week, police seized home-made porn from Tostee’s Gold Coast apartment of Gold Coast, while The Courier Mail reports he had rigged up his apartment with motion sensor cameras to record his sexual conquests. It is also claimed that he used a drone and a telescope to watch neighbours from his apartment.

Following his arrest, 9News tweeted this photo of a sullen-looking Tostee in cuffs:

Tostee has refused to answer any questions, according to News Ltd, but has declared his innocence on Facebook and an online body building forum in recent days.

Yesterday Ms Wright’s younger sister Reza, 23, made an emotional public statement about her sister’s death, describing the woman — known to friends as “Rrie” — as ‘a strong supporter for animal rights’ who stood by her convictions.

“It is hard for me facing the loss of my sister without knowing what happened in the last hours of her life… My sister was the most important person in my world,” she said.

“We really only had each other. She looked after me and always made sure that I was okay and she was really responsible as well.”

Warriena had arrived in Queensland on July 29 for a holiday planned to coincide with a friend’s wedding, Fairfax Media reports.
