Natasha Exelby has been snapped up by another media company.

Newsreader Natasha Exelby made headlines earlier this week for a daydreaming gaffe that occurred while she was presenting for ABC News 24.

Unaware she was back on air after a pre-recorded news package ended, Exelby was fiddling, almost mesmerised, with her pen.

The moment she realised, her reaction was comical; she sat up straight and her mouth formed a perfect ‘O’.

Now — just hours after the ABC confirmed it would not be demoting the journalist over the gaffe — Sydney radio station KIIS 1065 has poached Exelby's talent for a guest role.

"Australian Radio Network (ARN) is thrilled to welcome seasoned journalist Natasha Exelby to Sydney’s KIIS 1065 as guest breakfast newsreader," a statement released by the network today read.

"Natasha will read breakfast news on KIIS 1065 next week, while The Kyle & Jackie O Show is on survey break."

Following the blooper incident, which went viral around the country, there were rumours Exelby had lost her job at the ABC.

However, Director of News at the ABC Gaven Morris told The Australian today: "Natasha is a freelance journalist who works as a contributor. She has been assured since yesterday that we want that to continue".

Exelby has worked as a journalist around Australia as well as in the United States and the Middle East. Most recently, she was based in Istanbul, Turkey. Back home, she has been a regular on Channel Ten, CNN and The Project.

“We are excited to have someone with Natasha’s expertise join our newsroom at KIIS 1065," ARN’s National Content Director Duncan Campbell said in a statement today.

"Not only is she a seasoned journalist, but the way she has handled the unexpected attention and public scrutiny following her ‘blooper’ this week shows Natasha has poise under pressure and, most importantly, a sense of humour."

Natasha will be on air from 6am – 9am from Monday, April 17 – 21.
