Bodies of two children found in Yanchep home, man in hospital with stab wounds

The bodies of two children have been discovered in a home at Yanchep in Perth’s north and a man has been taken to hospital in a critical condition with stab wounds.

Police found the bodies when they were called to the home on Flight Vista late on Thursday night.

The injured man is under police guard in hospital, and officers are treating the incident as an attempted murder-suicide.

Coline Cooper, who lives several houses away, said officers knocked at her door about midnight to ask if she had heard anything, but she had not.

She said she believed the children were quite young and that their mother was a fly-in fly-out (FIFO) worker.

“The last I heard is that there were a couple of children and they had both died and that his wife or partner works away FIFO,” she said.

“It’s awful. I mean it was bad enough when you think just one person was involved, but now there’s children involved it’s horrible.”

Major Crime police have cordoned off the house and forensic officers remained at the scene throughout the night.

More information about the incident would be released later today, police said.
