Watch Madonna's incredible Super Bowl performance

UPDATE:  Okay, we’ve spent hours, days even talking about Madonna and how SUPERB and PHENOMENAL her Super Bowl performance was. Taking apart scene by scene – did you see how strong she is? Did  you see the way she can move her body? And then we read this amazing piece from Clem Bastow published on The Vine. Sums it up perfectly. She writes in part:

Let’s be real here: the Superbowl Halftime long since ceased to be relevant or even entertaining. Yes, yes, there was “Nipplegate”, and Bruce Springsteen gave it a red hot go a few years back with a typically Working Class Rock™ performance, but it’s reasonably safe to say that expectations were not high for Madonna’s effort this year.

Well, I hope those doubters had fun eating their words yesterday when Madonna brought the house down.

What you’re looking at, to answer Vogue‘s eternal question, is (aside from her near-revolutionary levels of narcissism in making her visage envelop the entire stadium; checkmate, Lady Gaga), is one of the most brilliantly subversive moments of pop culture my eyes have seen.

The Superbowl is pretty much THE event in American macho-shithead land; a hugely heterosexual happening where most of the mega-million-dollar ads feature either big cars, beer, women in bikinis, or hamburgers .

And then in marches Madonna, pulled in a chariot by countless beefcake gladiators, while high-fashion androgynous types pull shapes all around her and a breakdancer plays a harp. I actually stood up and clapped my hands together, I was so excited.

Drug references, a gang bang, cheerleaders and a leopard-print bra. Madonna is out to prove she certainly isn’t ready to tone things down as she approaches her 54th birthday. The queen of comebacks is performing her new single Give Me All Your Luvin‘ at the Super Bowl half-time show with a little help from British rapper M.I.A., pop singer Nicki Minaj, electro duo LMFAO and Cirque du Soleil.

The show -dedicated to her father, Silvio- is her biggest global television performance since Live Aid in 1985. The pop icon is also promised there would be no Janet Jackson style incident this year, “great attention to detail has been paid to my wardrobe, there will be no wardrobe malfunction – I promise,” Madonna said.

Track titles from her new album, MDNA, include Gang Bang, Girls Gone Wild, I’m Addicted, I Don’t Give A, I F***** Up and I’m A Sinner, she is also expected to announce tour dates for a 2012 world tour.
