The issue of children — both girls and boys — wearing makeup is one that never fails to divide.
Some say they shouldn’t wear it at all at a young age. Others argue experimenting with beauty products is a harmless form of self expression.
Makeup artist and beauty blogger Huda Kattan is witnessing this debate first-hand on one of her recent Instagram posts.
Kattan shared a photo of a little girl (presumably her daughter) wearing artfully applied eyeshadow, eyeliner, lipstick and false lashes, captioning it, “OMG she’s so cute.”

Once again, I think context is key. Playing about at home, having mum do her make up is one thing. Wearing it out in public is probably not acceptable. My mum was in cosmetics retail for most of my childhood, and I had a box of her old stuff to play with. It was like colouring in on my face. You'd put some on (either myself or occasionally a younger brother), prance around and admire yourself for a bit, then take it off. It hasn't damaged me psychologically, I like make up now, but rarely wear it (mostly because I can't be bothered).
Not appropriate. It's common sense.....do not dress or put makeup on a child in a way that imitates the adult world or the clubbing scene. The reason is obvious......the risks of abuse, rape, abduction, and the onset of early sexualised behaviour in a minor.
(not to mention that makeup can affect a childs skin and clog their pores and mascara etc can be an irritant to young eyes)
