It's a Cat-pocalypse. And it's completely terrifying.

First they took over the internet.  Now they’ve turned to real estate.

In a flagrant evil feline plot to take over the world, an army of cats have overrun a Japanese island.

The “Island of Cats” as it’s now known, is the geographical equivalent of that weird-cat-house-in-your-neighbourhood.

And it’s terrifying.

The cats have completely taken over the small Japanese island of Aoshima where they now outnumber humans SIX to one.

Tourists, many so bold as to wear black pants, are flocking to the island to see the catpocalypse.

Meanwhile, it’s occupants continue to plot evil things and laugh in the face of any cat allergy:

The small Japanese fishing village introduced cats over 300 years ago to deal with mice that plagued fisherman’s boats. As the population dwindled, cat numbers began to increase.  And as the cat’s breeding went unchecked, the quiet island became a hotbed of horny cat action.   And now this:

It’s believed that the locals now find it completely impossible to read newspapers or work on laptops without being clamboured over by the cats:

And showers on the island are few and far between, with cats stalking the neighbourhoods looking for wet legs to rub up against:

While the island is enjoying the notoriety, some tourists have been lured in by the promise of “an island of pussy”only to find it wasn’t the type they were expecting:
